  1. I think I know the referenced mission however, that weren't no Yoga! haha
  2. Still seems people are getting kicked from sessions in droves, happened the other night, or evening, a whole host of online peeps all left within seconds, I can't see this as actually user planned mass exodus. Also, will anyone here be trying their hand with the creative beta additions? I had hoped to as well, being a Forum leader, I feel I should get used to as many GTA attributes as possible, but there are many, and more then I would normally be doing, I wonder, how do you guys approach it? Like Tennis online with other players? I believe you CAN do that like single player, but even though I had no driving ambition to play poker when RDR came out, I enjoyed it a lot, so there is that Never Can Tell factor you just don't know before hand. Deathmatches and Last Team Standing all feel they haven't changed much, other players can still dominate those sessions. The problem with GTAO right now is major cash for some players, sharing it with others, which I actually think is a nice idea, but there's a boat load of disparity among users now. The playing field is ANYTHING but level. This can be a detriment I'd say, but controlling session criteria would help, ultimately I like just gambling with whomever's in a session, though you can easily swap from one to the next. It'd be interesting who's races constructed by the kit in GTAO become endorsed by Rockstar and promoted on their site
  3. He's your God? Actually, this really starts as Rockstar taking their own conventions and inventions from one game to another. There's not too much of it in GTA V at least in terms of Online which I've been doing lately. The thing I got upset over when I died there is going into PASSIVE mode, this happens if you press Y when it's prompted (XBox) I believe, it comes up when I didn't even notice the prompt so I had to disengage Passive mode after someone killed me, since it rendered me defenseless if someone attacked
  4. No more Russian Spambots? My own work got curtailed in a good way when our GTAChronicles forum section went down, I can't add new stuff every day there, and like GTAP, things are still going slow with topics and replies, but either way, no one on EARTH other then other Spambots WANT spam! hahaha Poor food gets a bad rap
  5. I got invites, again from someone via Social Club, but I think I'm most inclined to hit up people as I have in the past, those I game with In Session and I know how they like to play the game, since I spend some quality time doing it, but there is concern I just won't be able to keep my Gold or hours I'd like to do GTAO, it's certainly getting addictive, and it's a different experience then GTA offline, to be sure, but the day where we can all play online as much as off just ain't here yet. Can you find me in a session? That's a challenge, but I'd like if someone I meet with knows me from any of the forums, so far....haven't come across that! haha
  6. You know the great convergence to HiDef Television where the FCC were forced to mandate a drop off date and change over, and Government issued vouchers for low cost conversion boxes? In the USA at least, a good number of years to move away from NTSC and old tech tube TVs and broadcasting, now the future of digital content transmission means making use of the old UHF and VHF bandwidths, FCC is discussing upcoming auctions both based on the highest values they'd like to see, and lowest. A CSPAN broadcast last night I happened across discussed this with various representatives in congress asking a panel about what plans are moving forward. The big issue is no price for Bandwaves/bandwidth has been set, so how long this will take is any body's guess, but my main concern is that the markets are also evenly divided, monopolies are avoided, and rural communities also see cost initiative and tech evolving for them on somewhat equal footing. Early on when I heard about the old UHF and VHF change over to digital, it was rumored a lot of that requisitioned airwaves would be used for digital content on hand held smartphones and the like, and while that segment has seemingly grown, not everyone wants it all on their small phone, I prefer a large screen and large sound any day! I also want affordable cable and Broadband Internet, and more channel programming variety I also want Ultra High Definition, all surround sound digital codecs available across the Country. A lot of what you'll choose is based on allocation of these bandwidths and companies use and services. Some of the discussion is toward advances in all areas of telecommunication, which was voice solely in the past, but not any more of course!
  7. Techspot is my favorite news site for geekStuff, and here's their latest on MS' success tally so far, however, I'd like to see how PS4 fares in all this as well. This topic could actually go under GAMING heading as well, but there's plenty of games you guys have yet to post reviews on, just so you know, we could stand some more submissions on the user end! haha http://www.techspot.com/news/54979-microsoft-sells-over-2-million-xbox-ones-worldwide-in-18-days.html
  8. GTAChronicles Forum offline for servicing I believe, will come back!

  9. Well, it makes you wonder, how long before a PC word of any sort comes from Rockstar Games HQ?!?? I hope they don't actually disappoint many by making GTA a console only game, but however GTA V plays out, I would bet you money that with the new consoles, and their similarity to PCs this time around, it should be easy for Rockstar to cater to both, hopefully they're making some changes to staff so they know how to multi-cross platform for the new gen consoles and new PC hardware
  10. Update to the RANTS, I was online for 6 or more hours yesterday, I was in three sessions I believe, I had to take an intermission but it was just so damn cold, I had to stay in! UGH! I ran into a really cool dude in the first session, he invited any players over the bridge to show how the glitch works, and it's much like previous glitches, you find a wall that isn't solid, and can walk right through! hahaha Nice...no patch as of the moment. That's not a rant, but I ought to point it out, it's on more then one bridge!! Ok, one dude I encountered was blasting me with homosexual chatter over the mic, and was totally unsolicited, so I put in a review not to play with him again, but it'd be good to mark him as unsportsman like behavior in the GTAOnline portions, not sure how to go about that, since I used the conventional XBL Gamertag menu. I was also being griefed by this guy, and he had a passenger or fellow gamer helping him out, I don't mind some deathmatching in open free roam, but there is DM segments specific to that, if that's all you do! I favor some variety in the main open Freeroam modes that are on offer. Getting along with the gamers insession can be a fun time, ya know!?? If all you do is kill them, the fun quotient ain't too high for those people waiting to respawn over and over. The problem I have is these guys have more money, better guns, better cars, they ALWAYS have a leg up because they either cheated or started GTAO before the newer gamers joining GTAOnline. So, there's a real issue there I don't know how you resolve other then legislating your sessions beforehand??
  11. I started laughing and laughing for some reason, when I heard the radio ad about herpes a man got claiming it was a food contaminations and a recall of spinach or lettuce was recommended! Basically it pokes fun at the idea that this guy got it from a product rather then sleeping around on his woman, and the advert plays like any news story you'd hear about contaminated food product. Just perfect satire humor, that's what I love most from Rockstar games' writing
  12. I don't know how the above helps, delete that inane SPAM SHITE! hahaha Anywho, my take is not about how Rockstar contracted a shoddy PC port from console, you can say it needed refinement, but the game DOES work and has been a modding favorite for some time. My experience is GTA IV is better suited to more PC variables then Episodes from Liberty City is, it runs a lot smoother. Also, I just bought a copy of GTA IV for PC from the Goodwill, a very nice deal there!! As it happens I'd say two things to try, make sure you have a beefy power supply and graphics card, they recommend nVidia, which is what I'm after, but ATI Radeon just rolled out new graphics cards that eschew the previous HD line that's been in place since early 2007 nVidia like Intel, corner the PC market in the past 3 to 5 years. Try a slim, Win only hard drive without your standard apps and surfing, email antivirus software that ALL clogs a systems' performance. Bottom line, people may run games on one computer they use for everything, but it's not the best way to go about that. Performance requires all available resources, ALL of them. As well, GTA is not geared to 64 bit, so when you install it, try and get it loaded under compatibility mode and see if that does better. Also, try Windows 8 for gaming, it's supposedly come along way since it's inception and married Xbox features more and more, a convergence I believe they're still working on. Specific to your hardware, I use an HD 5450 that's a budget Radeon with the same graphics RAM, 1GB. The downside for all those decisions is that the first two numbers denote the series lineage, the last two denote the performance range, so the higher the numbers the better, but since yours and mine are both 50, they're now introductory graphics cards, they're not the GAMERS choice for high performance advantage. System drivers, as pointed, out, DirectX, or the game install files as well, like all software CODE, it can be corrupted easily, so the best bet in those cases is reinstall, portions at a time until you've got a better replacement, this is a last ditch effort in my book, but video and audio drivers can often fail and the best thing to resort to on laptop or PC is your Device Manager and remove, search, and reinstall anything problematic from there. Or you can run the software installer app, or try and remove from the START menu going to a specific app and seeing if it has one, but ultimately, with so many programs and the OS juggling of hardware available resources, any number of things can go wrong, and at times, more then one thing! That's the maddening aspect of computers versus consoles. However, consoles can drive you mad at times as well. My latest Xbox360 has a wonky ODD, the optical disc drive, and can fail to initialize the disc at any time, until it stops engaging the disc, I live with it as is, but I'd have to replace the belt most likely. I also got it acting strange when it shuts down, and I believe this is the Gamestop wiring mod they put in to add cooling time to it, RROD, YLOD, in which case hardware could fail in multiple areas or play the same role a computer problem entails
  13. Well, it just seemed to me, they corrected the glitch of falling into the water without drowning, but sinking to the bottom like a rock! Happened tonight before the update, I was kicked from a session and had to reboot from single player... AGAIN, and the update for the Beach Bum additions again loaded, at least appearance and cues on screen, there's no real difference you'll notice, but comment here if you saw different. I saw a multitude of people leave my session after I rejoined, I can only assume they had to allow the software update in the same disturbing manner, disrupting us in the heat of online gameplay!!
  14. Guys, how's this major chilldown effecting you, I had enough heat in my place last week, but I'm downright cold inside right now, we topped out with a high of 10 degrees, hoping for 15 above ZERO! The lowest reported temp has gone down to 40 below zero in some Upper Midwest and Canada locations, and bone chilling cold even without the added wind! I hate this aspect of winter the most. It's horrible. Let's hear from you guys, hoping to give some life to the threads around here, it's so dang slow for some reason. Cheers!
  15. Additional Info, the Xbox I just got E74 and was working for me over a year, I resorted to pulling that chassis to access parts, I seem to be missing some I had already, when I moved, or thought I had. Anyway, it turns out the one that just flatlined with video issues was internally a match to some of the improved GPU coolers, using a copper feed extension to the front space. Same improved CPU heatsink, but this time the philips bolts used to retrograde, they're mounted through the bottom, and done in a seemingly haphazard approach, since they are bigger profile, and the normal screws are small black hex ones that mount to the other side of the X-clamps, going into mounted posts that the X-clamp locks to, so as you tighten them, it pulls the X-clamp down and tight, whereas I do see the loose factor without that, but those screws are also part of the annoyance factor taking apart and repairing, any user service. I'll report that pulling the interlocking latches at the rear of the white casing top, that did make a REAL difference so you can snap top and bottom together BY HAND without any tools, but it helps to still have a flat head screwdriver. There's not notices of Gamestop Refurbishing that I can tell, I bought all of mine from various pawn shops, and never a console from Gamestop other then my first Playstation 3, when new, it was refurbished, but the only stumbling block was GTA IV, bought new, it got worse and worse trying to run it, so I jumped ship to Xbox360 I still use PS3 obviously, but took a long break from the system. I'm putting together some new video in addition to the first one above. I don't think I captured the dust in all it's glory, but I did shoot the system with my best initial cleaning, using fingers and damp paper towel. I would say if you do this like I do, make sure your damp paper towel is not dripping at all, squeeze out access water, and let it drip soak to dry portions of the paper towel, you dap it on dust locations and then go back with a dry piece, this method can leave tearing paper residue if you do it ham fisted, so be gentle and take time with the effort. It does work. I wiped all vented hole corners, and the dust vent shield, basically all areas that were open were now cleared of standing dust residue. The only real problem areas are deep inside the aluminum vents, and between tightly positioned capacitors. We're about to fire up the failing system again, now that it's better suited to heat pressure, remember this system WAS inside the white case and never opened by me previously. It had been opened for the heat sink mods, so both systems I have now are virtually identical with the new heatsinks and SANS X-CLAMPS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4NQ2ULE2js I'm looking at this guy's videos because he was denouncing Gamestop refurbs, but I also would disagree with some of his ideas, he's got some sound ones, but I think MS did a complete disservice by not acknowledging this issue long ago when it first came to light, and only dealing with it on a minor basis, when it proved the biggest detriment by a huge margin! MS like Sony at times, refused to publicly admit their failures, it was bad press, the bottom line, but it was a real situation that needed proper resolve and not ignorance or ignoring, or brushing off
  16. I got another 360 as I mentioned as soon as I was out and about picking up another to replace my second HDMI version Xbox, this one worked for over a year, but funny as it seems, a lot of online user critiques think a used Xbox will fail within a year, give or take, I'd say on average, you might get 2 years if something don't break down! hahaha This one worked fine most all the time I had it, but then the screen suddenly went to vertical white bars, and only a hint of the visual display behind it, not responding to attempts at an active reset, I rebooted the system and got the dreaded E74 error screen. Rather then attempt any fixes on that, I went out to the closest pawn shop and bought another, I put video up about this unit after working with it for a good chunk of the day, but also decided to look up what info there is on Gamestop Refurbished Xboxes, and found this from someone who used to work at Gamestop. A lot of people speaking out with any air of authority claim that buying used ones, or any from Gamestop is a horrible idea, I don't agree obviously, but the thing dating this information is the year, obviously, so prices we know have changed in most cases, but to repair a RROD by someone offering the service, you're still looking at upwards to $50 to $70 range on the high end, while complete systems are down around $89, so it's not much more to just replace if it's a dated system (PHAT as opposed to Thin) The HDD form factor obviously changed so limits some expansion there as well. Here's my video, below the user supplied info mentioned above, not mine, mind you, his comments highlighted during the cut and paste process http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbG97LOeBCY I read over all the posts here and I think I covered everything people are concerned about here. Please read! Any scratched disc games being sent or kept is up to the discresion of the employee who takes the trade. I work as an ASM at one and being a collector myself I'm usually strict on what I'll accept, I refurbish anything I myself wouldn't want to recieve through a trade here or buying at a store. Any games whose trade in value is less than $1.00 can't be refurbed. Also, any and all systems are tested when someone brings one in (unless the employee/manager on duty is horrible at their job) regardless of how busy we are at the time. Refurbish fees on systems usually take 30-50% off the actual value we give. Trading in a 360 with a wireless controller gets you $80 store credit with a wired $70. Refurbish fee will be about $30-40 on those. Any games/systems that are taken defective/refurbished are put in a seperate box from any other trades. Each week the managers will gather up all the Defectives items and send them back to our warehouse. Also just to add, Gamestop used to send out any and all PS3s working or non to the warehouse to be wiped clean. We now do this ourselves. Likewise any working 360 will be kept at the store and sold as used. The only piece GameStop has to send back is the 360 Hard drive (if you have one). But these are taken in seperately from the system and add to your credit. That all being said, stay away from used 360s. Testing a system for the 5-10 mins we do gives us no perspective on how long these things will last. Our standard warranty is 30 days and I have had people buy used 360s and come back day 32 with a red ring. Used 360s are 159.99-169.99 depending on the controller, they only have a 30 day warranty (unless you extend it to a year for like $20), and they come with no HD or memory card. Taking all that into account: The new ones have a 1 year company warranty (3 years on your red rings), and even the cheapest, the Arcade, comes with a 256MB memory card. 1.) Used 360 + extended 1yr. warranty + memory card (usually $19.99) = $210 2.) New 360 Arcade (1 year warranty, 256MB memory card) = $200
  17. Funny enough, I'd already heard about the new biopic based on his life, which would be a recommended film with the real perspective fresh on everyone's mind, but I was at the store shopping and heard a man who worked there mentioning it to a fellow co-worker (or friend) and I figured he was bringing up the movie, he didn't mention that Mandela had passed away, not that I could hear, but I found out as soon as I turned the TV on about 2 hours later, they said he had died only hours before that day! I found it odd that I still remembered ads for the film and assumed that was being discussed. It premiered over seas and they talked to the cast on the red carpet about how Mandela will be remembered and their feelings about it. That being said, hope I'm recalling the details correctly without a direct reference.
  18. An article about development, as we noted before, console specific titles, the woes of PC games available between consoles AND PC, as well as development time, cost, and difficulty. http://www.techspot.com/news/54933-thief-developer-says-the-gap-between-console-and-pc-has-massively-reduced.html This emphasizes the good news we've been predicting and talking about, and pretty much confirms the developers being excited about what the new hardware means for the gaming possibilities down the line. We've been hoping and hoping Rockstar Games will go beyond just Microsoft and Sony as of late as well, and titles they might consider AAA, like Max Payne see a PC release, while Red Dead Revolver and Redemption do not, and now GTA is on the hot seat. The article I just linked to shows that cost is a real concern, staff and work allotment is a TRUE concern, and the realities are in a perfect World, they'd probably support any system that was powerful enough, and had a history of user base demographics. Anyway, as we hear more about the convergence that may happen with the new Next Gen, or any further titles changing status, this would be a good place to post about that
  19. Someone told me PSN isn't free any more (via YouTube comments) but I believe it is, last time I used it, it was. You only pay for premium upgrade known as Playstation Plus. If they're adopting that as the only PSN, or much similar to Gold and Silver of MS XBL, it must have been a recent change in keeping with PS4's release. Reported on Spike Network was word that PC gamers and PS4 gamers can share an MP online session with matching games. I'm hopeful we'll hear more on this in the future
  20. It's the first major chill of Winter 2013, but where I am in the Icebox of North America, we're just matching cold temps set early this same year! Winter begins officially in two weeks? Usually we get our early snow in October, or right on Thanksgiving holiday, so it feels late this year, but here's the MSNBC scoop on it currently. MS means it's part Microsoft's ownership of NBC, so you might see this on your Xbox console as well, as they did support webcasts similar beforehand http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/12/06/21787171-frozen-nation-at-least-11-dead-as-cold-ice-and-snow-grip-us?lite
  21. We heard the other day that one of the great human beings of our lifetime has passed away as well this week. Along with shocking news of Paul Walker's death, and hearing more about how kind, giving, and generous he was, it's also historically significant, the contributions of African imprisoned freedom leader Nelson Mandela was. Nelson was the "American" name his teacher gave him many years ago, but most people know him by that name. He spent nearly 20 years in jail, and died in his 90s, but he was a changed man in part from his time spent behind bars, it was reported that as a militant leader for change and revolution in his youth, he might have carried out acts causing causalities considered collateral damage as most terrorists are known for, in making their point toward a cause, that jail might have saved him from doing something rash, and his change during that time in his life, 30s and 40s, made an impression on everyone he met, including his captors. His words ring much like Ghandi's do. He was a true beacon for PEACE in our time, and inspiration to all races. One man's impact so profound, many feel we won't see anyone of his stature again in our life time. If only everyone could try and encompass some of that greatness and pass it along! Make the World a much better place, he's proof, one person can make a major difference!!
  22. I actually hated Queen's Radio GaGa initially, but musically I can get into it, it's just a silly lyrical subject, however, radio can easily be lamented in song these days! The whole music scene is still floundering
  23. Don't try and go beyond Double Posting in your own topic, or anyone's for that matter, normally it's frowned upon at all forums, but you're only able to edit in about a 30 minute window, up to an hour, then your last added reply becomes a QUOTE only, you also shouldn't have to quote any post made just above your comment, that's wasteful bandwidth. I made a lot of those mistakes starting out at GTAForums 10 years ago (or more) and a lot of what they used to ban me was all those mistakes I made being on permanent record! They suck, it's true! hahaha Anyway, I have GTA V for PS3 as well, but because setting up Xbox Live and the same Gamertag for Multiplayer was somewhat involved, I haven't done the same with my PS3, although it's free to do so, I figure when I lapse my Xbox Live account Gold, I'll delve into the PS3 online gameplay. It's nice to have both options, and people who didn't buy both consoles by now confuse me, it's entirely affordable now!!
  24. I'm entirely not sure, sorry. I didn't delve into modding with PC versions of Grand Theft Auto, but a good idea would be to see who's been active doing it, and what they've submitted and how, if they're still active gamers, it should be possible to hit them up somehow
  25. I'm gonna rant just now that my GTAC site ain't working again! Just as I spent a solid 24 hours away from the computer, I figured I'd be cleaning it up for at least 30 minutes, but it ain't there. Well, to let our helpers know, it's nothing I can fix, just have to wait till it loads again. On the GTA topic, sort of. My last Xbox360 loaded GTA V into Multiplayer the other day, the screen went from fine to millions of vertical white lines, with the only thing being readable, the text popping up above the HUD, and even then, marred by the white lines. I tested my HDMI cable, I tested resetting the TV input, going to Xbox component cable and it reset the video to an E74 display, that I could read, but basically what it tells you is your video chip is cooked! At least one component internally is in serious trouble. I figure, time to shop a new, used system! Well, just a few blocks from me is a pawn shop now, near my new digs, so it was easier then could be expected. I was planning at least an hour or so shopping across town, they thought they had nothing older gen, but as it happens, another 20GB model with HDMI, this one is refurbished by Gamestop with new heatsink mounts, and a different heatsink design for the CPU as well. It has wired in male and female attaching wiring from the power to DVD ROM connector, SATA remains the same. The added wire harness goes to the fan, I believe this causes the fans to get a signal to run full bore all the time, it also makes the system rather noisy, which is due to the same fans being used I'm sure. Could probably retrograde the actual fans and add the aftermarket variety. Either way, because it's main issue was a DVD ROM stuck in closed door mode, I removed the plastic shell again, determined it had already been opened, somewhat obvious to do the mods by Gamestop, with new stickers added. Well, the drive is dated manufactured in 2009, so you know, it's still the sore spot. I played GTA V for a few hours and everything on screen suddenly froze. Rebooted with changed drive (the one it came with) again it prompted to download and install updates (every old drive seems to need this, which makes sense) Then I ran RDR which besides Madden, had been the only two games saved on the single profile. That and some Rap music was all that's on the former drive, so I customized that to a new generic gamertag to try gaming some RDR on it, luckily I'm a major fan of Rockstar in this case, having PS3 and Xbox versions of their AAA titles! hahaha PS2 as well, but that's another story. The system did read, but initially had trouble loading the discs, ejecting and retracting the disc tray, and engaging the disc, I believe during my MP session, the disc drive probably stopped reading, it gave me an error that the disc was unreadable, but I think it's entirely mechanical, the disc still looks the same, no scratches, but as you can imagine, there's risk involved playing any discs in suspect ROM or general CD/DVD drives, if they're in real bad shape, you wind up with scratches on a formerly good disc! AND then you're out $50 or $60 bucks!! OUCH! Well, it looks like I may still have to swap DVD ROM parts, but I scored this Xbox for a markdown to $35 dollars, after some negotiation, I expected to pay $100 or more!! They also told me they just marked down the earlier/earliest systems in the pawn shops because the XBox One released, likely true of PS3 as well, now that PS4 is available to consumers. I'm passing that along to anyone thinking of getting into either, you can do so for a nice price if you're savvy, and the seller is anxious to liquidate. There's an As Is final sale involved, but it could have cost me over $50 too! (initially they said they'd throw in a 6 month return if anything failed, but even they couldn't get the drive door open, so it required the case be opened up entirely just to get the thing useable
