  1. I set a friend on fire once. I didn't blame it on a videogame. Instead i blamed it on using too much rubbing alcohol and him having too much of a beard.
  2. Too bloated. When I got my dell laptop, I installed XP right away as soon as I got it. Give vista some time and it will become a nice OS. XP took a few years.
  3. I don't mind the dell logo. I'm proud of my dell I have not. What is a good free benchmarking utility? What make/model? I actually think I'm being slowed down by the T5250 in games. Hoping to upgrade to something faster I think it's slowing me down a wee bit. It's at 100% usage. I can't overclock though Apparently they haven't got a program for santa rosa chipset). I haven't overheated it too bad yet. Onetime I went nuts with the clock speeds and the drivers crashed. Luckily for me, the inspiron 1520 is one of the best cooling laptops.
  4. Long story ahead So back in October, my thinkpad blew a motherboard. The thinkpad repair place on campus had no idea how long it would take to get it fixed and they refused to give me a loaner laptop. Apparently, being a computer student, I didn't need a laptop ... okay So I start browsing Dell for used laptops - my only criteria was 1) Core 2 duo, 2) Decent video card So I stumbled across this: Dell Inspiron 1520 1.5 GHz Core 2 Duo 1gb memory X3100 graphics card Now I thought the x3100 was an ATI radeon. I have a x1300 in my thinkpad and it's a decent card. And for the price of 550 (this is a referb unit), I thought I'd buy it. Apparently it was intel X3100. And when I placed the order I didn't know it was pink. Dell wouldn't cancel the order for it being pink So I get the laptop and find out it's got a crappy graphics card. Okay, oh well. After doing some research, I found out that I can get a decent Nvidia card for it. I ordered nvidia card from ebay and found out that i have to get a different motherboard. So I ordered the motherboard. I now have a kickass pink laptop with Nvidia 8600M GT card ... I love it! And thanks to the prices I got on ebay, I have a $1300 laptop for around $750 Pics! I took them in a lounge and people were oohing and aahing that someone took apart a laptop and 'upgraded it' Note that the camera screwed up the color, it's flamingo pink
  5. Splinter Cell games are fun. Hell, if you dont want to waste a christmas present on them, pick thme up at the used bin
  6. Widescreen is nice for internet browsing in laptops. But I like regular
  7. I'm horrible with the little cars in GT4.
  8. The only portable ones I have seen are 2.5'' drives. And they are more expensive.
  9. I'm actually a fan of the dodge caravan! leaf springs and beamaxle in the rear!
  10. I've been here since 03. damn that's a long time.
  11. I'd go with external hard drives for backup. Actually, it's pretty nice to store data on external hard drives! Each time one of my servers or laptops dies I jsut have to plug the drives into another computer.
  12. After playing the demo and severely overclocking the laptop I'm definitely going to buy the game this week.
  13. At college I am an RA. I make/save 2785 a semester. I also sit infront of a door and watch it for 4 hours, once a week for $7 ah hour. Outside of college (breaks) I work at target. Varies anywhere from 40 to 60 hours a week depending on the season.
  14. What exactly do you mean by turn properly? How do you turn improperly? On every american car I've driven, the car turns where I turn the wheel, same goes for all american cars I rode in.
  15. Oh my god I fell in love with the game.
  16. Most vehicles would be considered to have way less generations if you went by platform changes. If that were the cas, my 4th generation taurus would be a 1st generation taurus ... there are very few differences between them. Usually generations are major changes in body or platform or both.
  17. You need to get vids of that 6. I love straight 6 engines.
  18. Straight couples or gay couples?
  19. MACs aren't that bad as far as stability. The only problems I have with MACs is the incompatibilities. And they are starting to get those ironed out. If I owned a newer MAC with an intel chipset I'd be running bootcamp and XP
  20. You can either learn a bunch of facts about computers, or understand things about them. IMO, the best way to be 'computer savy' is to have a lot of experience with them - be it by taking hands on classes or just dealing with them all the time. Most of what I know about computers comes from hands on experience. I know about various operating systems (9x, 2000, XP, Server 2k and 2k3 (not so much)) because i have played with them. Hardware is the same, I have played with a lot of hardware. Up until last year, I didn't have much experience with laptop hardware - now that I own two of them, I'm becoming pretty good at working on laptops. So, in conclusion, I think the best way for you to learn computers is to get a cheap one or a second computer, put some different OSs on there and play with it. Break it and learn how to fix it. You can also join computer-related message boards. That might be able to give you some experience into what other people are experiencing with computers.
  21. GG. Why don't you just set everything to automatically run as admin? My solution is reformat and install XP
  22. I'm not sure if they were too bad. From what I've heard from owners, they get like 26-28 on the highway. The AWD models got slightly less. Some of it is due to the 3.0 duratec v6 being a bit underpowered for the size of the car.
  23. Ford Five Hundred. Nice big, reliable car.
  24. There's a good chance I'm going to be going this thursday night too. Hopefully I'll do something this time.
