Warnings do not "come off" - they are permanent records of things you've done in the past.

You really wouldn't understand what its like to be gay unless you were. Or would you...? Let me put it this way - I think straight people are weird. I think fancying women is weird. I don't like breasts or vaginas or curvy hips. Just doesn't work for me. Just like straight guys don't like other guys. That's the difference. The actual reason for it is unknown - but certainly not a choice.
-
BEING GAY IS NOT A CHOICE - just like being male or female or black or white is not a choice. I have NEVER said "you know what, I think I'm going to like guys". You may not understand that - you have never decided to be straight... and you could never decide to be gay. The only choice you have is what you do about it - I have the choice of either having a boyfriend, or not having one. I would never want a girlfriend. The "try it" method just isn't the way to go about things. So long as you have an open mind to things, just seeing who you find attractive is the best method. The sexual practices of a particular sexuality are irrelevant - I'm not gay because I like bum fun, it's because I like guys... a lot easier to work out. It's like saying "have sex with everybody so you know who you fancy" - dangerous. I kind of agree with Jace for saying if you're gay, you'll notice. That is true only because being straight is "normal" - if you don't fit into these social norms, then you wonder why. That's when you realise. The other point about drawing attention to it is tricky - we just want to be treated the SAME as other people, but drawing attention to it doesn't help. You'd never have heterosexuality parades would you? Nevertheless, the first thing we have to do is educate the ignorant people to make sure they know gay people exist, and we're normal except we fancy different people. That really is the only difference. It isn't the same seeing two guys kissing as a guy and a girl? That's because you aren't used to it. Yes, it is different - but if they love each other then there's no reason why they shouldn't. Some people say "its okay as long as they dont try to kiss me".. don't flatter yourself - just because we're gay doesn't mean we want to kiss every male in the world.

Since I came out 2 or 3 years ago, I have noticed changes in the attitudes towards gay people. Three years ago, a lot of people I knew didn't even know gays really existed - they thought they were just urban myths or really weird people doing it for attention. I actually think I have educated a lot of people about it - and after a couple of years, it really isn't a bad subject to talk about in class - even in front of teachers. I still occasionally get people who think I MUST fancy the other gay person in the college - that just because I fancy some men that I must fancy ALL men. Good thing is I don't think anybody mistakenly believes I like them - although the people I do fancy mostly know about it. What are the attitudes towards gay people like where you live?

But remember GTA4 won't come out for PC for another year (probably more). 512mb cards will be the norm then, 256mb would be the minimum. The specs at the start of this topic are way off. Games I bought at Christmas (Rainbow Six Vegas) have those specs, not a game a year and a half away.

There should be a "next" button to go to the next page, rather than having to look through the dropdown

I bet you can't read Japanese. You just shoved it through the translator again.

The UK only has a few Cities? You're just naming the massive well known ones (I presume thats what you meant). There are currently 66 officially-designated cities in the UK. Not so sure about the USA, but there are 254 incorporated places in the States with a population of more than 100,000

I cope perfectly well with the main forum layout. I open a new tab for the subforums I want to read (thats ctrl+click in Firefox or IE7) and then open any topics. Easy. The reason TGTAP Forums have been so successful is because they are simple, decent forums. No flashy gimmicks or unneccessary mods. No fancy multicoloured skin or fifty types of member group. No donations, not overrun by adverts. I know a little menu won't upset the balance of the entire forum, but its just not what we're about. I've been here a while, I've seen these forums from every angle. Heck, I even created half the subforums and member groups - not to mention wrote the rules, guidelines and mod handbook. I'm attached to them, and I don't think we need to change. Not much... not yet.

Do people not read the topic before they post? I'm going to join the Royal Navy (in the UK) as an Engineer Officer in Information Systems. That means I am in charge of the computers, the communications and all their security on a ship.

The mods are all for PC. If you want to mod the PS2 version, it's quite hard - you have to rip the disk, then edit the files, then burn a new disk. Because this actually counts as "copying" the game, we can't tell you how to do it on these forums.

The Royal Navy will give me pretty much the same deal as the RAF - except slightly better because I join at a higher rank.

That would be daft though - I wouldn't want a game that only had Japanese-speaking peds and all the signs in Japanese. I want to understand it. Most games set in Germany actually use English with German accents for the NPCs. That could work with Japanese accents, but wouldn't be great. If all the signs were in Japanese, we wouldn't understand all the jokes they have (eg "we don't like your type round here"), and if they were in English it would be pretty out of place. Simpler to do it in an English-speaking nation. Especially since the game is created by British designers...

Well right at the bottom of the page is a dropdown list of all the forums - that could go at the top for all the lazy sods out there?

Did you read the rest of the topic? I can't join the RAF... so I'm thinking of joining the Navy. A bit more digging reveals the Engineering (Information Systems) Officer post, which looks after computers and communications on a ship. The advantage of this is that I would go straight in as a Lieutenant, earning around £35,000 ($70k) just a year or so after I leave University.

Well i got my rejection letter from the RAF Medical Board this morning. Basically I can't join for long-standing medical reasons, even though that doesn't apply anymore. Happens a lot, I gotta move on. Shame though, cos a heluvalot of money was involved. However, in response to this I have been digging deep into the Royal Navy. Good news is I can apply to become a Weapons Engineering Officer - which looks after weapons, communications and emergency systems on a ship. I can apply when I get to university, getting a similar amount of money as I would have in the RAF, and (I believe) I only have to serve three years afterwards. Sounds quite good to me...

I get that at school (IE6) frequently, but I kept getting it a couple of days ago at home (Firefox). Just refreshing a few times usually solves the problem. I think it was my wireless connection shorting out a little, because the tgtap pages are massive.

I have to disagree with Spaz. There have been many "generations" of game consoles... the PS3 is not the same generation as the PS2 or PSOne - there has to be a break somewhere. Every console has been "next generation" at some point. Obviously the current stuff is no longer considered "next generation", but it was a year ago. The PSP, X360, DS, Wii and PS3 are all considered 7th Gen, although there is a wide range in there. [/offtopic] I bought my monitor a week ago (19" LG for £150/$300) and I'm left with around £120 to spend at the moment. I'll probably wait a couple of weeks until I have £150 ($300) to burn, then I'll go for a graphics card. After that... more RAM. After that... maybe a new phone (unless I get to keep one for review). Then I'm going in for a big refit with a new CPU and motherboard to fit.

I agree with you there - I'm going to Paris in July for a concert, and I've been trying to brush up on mon Francais, mais c'est très difficile... Welcome to all new members Topic title changed to "Introduce Yourself..."

Just to point out the correct terminology. Your Username is what you signed up with and use to login as - you don't change that ever. Your Display Name is what you can change in My Controls, and is what is shown to other people all over the site.
