You don't use notepad - you're supposed to use a GXT editor to edit the GXT files.

You don't get the PHP - that's preprocessed on the server before it's sent out to your browser. All you get is the HTML that the PHP has outputted. Same thing you get by going "view source". But Jared is right - it's just a browser hiccup where it tries to download the page instead of loading it.

I don't see the advantage of this mod? How will we know it's a hybrid - what is the difference going to be? Apart from just a new car model and name, at the very most a different sound, how is this going to be a hybrid? Since fuel isn't used at all ingame.

I heard you LOVE criticism. I got plenty. "take a peak" - this should be 'peek', because a 'peak' is the top of a mountain or wave. "sun lit" should be one word "alot" should be two words "A take on the Brooklyn bridge" - We know it's called the Algonquin Bridge because of BOABO "a factory next to the river, we will most probably see this in the game" - why the hell wouldn't we see it in the game? Why on Earth would they have a screenshot of it if it wasn't? On page 2, the top right image, I don't think the police car is necessarily parked, and how do you know the house the pedestrian is walking to is "his"? "the infamous bridge in the distance" - what is it infamous for? Famous perhaps. Sounds like you're just trying to use longer words. "We recently polled users on their favourite LC radio station" - you don't specify whether you mean LCS or all games set in Liberty City. Also, you don't actually state the results of the poll except in a graph which is hard to interpret. First rule of pie charts is to actually sort the slices in order of magnitude, so the biggest first, then 2nd biggest next to it etc, rather than this totally random (not even alphanumeric) order. Because of this, it's really hard to tell whether LCFR or Flashback is the biggest (I think it's Flashback... not sure though). How hard would it have been to write a sentence saying "Flashback got the most votes, followed my LCFR then MSX". Not very. "This week the wishlist is by our local user KMW1991 who I think has the honour of this issue's selected wishlist purely on the basis that he clearly has many ideas for the game"- You don't even know why he was selected? Would you have picked him even if his ideas were crap? I don't think what you say is strictly true then, is it? Also "has the honour of this issue's selected wishlist" doesn't make sense - sounds like you're giving the wishlist to him as an honour, rather than using his wishlist or whatever. You also completely fail to separate your introductory text from his actual wishlist. The "songs from many famous artists" wish is what we've had in all the recent games and what has already been confirmed for GTA IV. "From the old we travel to the new" - PLEASE don't use kid's hymns for subheadings and highlights. Seriously. Page 06 (as if you need double figures) is almost impossible to read. Not everyone who plays GTA is 12 with flawless eyesight you know. Most of the other pages look shit with picture backgrounds and only a shadow to separate the text, but this one is the worst by far. And it isn't as if it contributes anything, because the screenshot used was already used on another page. The supposed "leak" from a friend of a Rockstar North employee does no service to the community. If it is a lie, by publishing it you are encouraging this kind of deception and it really is taking something away from the community. If it is the truth (however unlikely), Rockstar have shown us Niko and told us what they have for a reason, because it is good entertainment and we are supposed to believe it. The word "hardness" is used instead of "difficulty" in the last column of the leak, and I don't think you're a chemist - some of us visit the real English Wikipedia not simple.wikipedia.org. "Whether this is a speculation or just a fan's imagination doesn't matter" - those are the same thing... How much of a retard do you have to be to make a mistake like that? You mean "whether this is the truth or just speculation" That paragraph ends with "...because all of us have a GTA IV idea as well and want it advertised so well that even Rockstar can see" - Is that even the end? If so its a crap ending, and there isn't even a full stop there. "Enjoy your week, Barnaby Smith" - that is saying 'enjoy your week' to you not from you. That's just silly. Also, throughout the entire magazine you split words when they wrap, which you should only do in Justified alignment, when the spacing spreads out to compensate for varied lengths of words. Seems like you're trying too hard to look professional when this is a really shit magazine. I use the word "you" to refer to whoever made these mistakes, not necessarily you in particular, although most will be your fault and you really should check everything over before you publish. Ever heard of proofing? You should try it someday.

Chris knows her over IM, so all those pictures are definitely of her.

Here is the question I asked - hope it gives some of you some inspiration. Dan Houser said Rockstar has tried to give GTA IV "the feeling of being there." From what you have seen, can you tell if they have managed to fully immerse the player into the game, and completely remove the belief of reality?

I think he just means that he doesn't particularly WANT to meet you.. rather than he wants to NOT meet you. To be honest I'd like to meet anybody round here to actively helps other members. There are some people that're only in it for themselves, and they are usually twats. No offence meant by that, but seriously there are some great people here who are totally devoted to helping others - and they're the ones I'd like to meet.

The above is a graph showing past games sales and a prediction for the future. This graph predicts that Xbox 360 game sales will increase for a few years, with sales for the Wii and PS3 staying roughly the same. The Xbox 360 is predicted to do singificantly better than the other two consoles, with the PS3 behind the Wii. Around 2009, sales for all the consoles will decline. At this time, we would expect a new generation of consoles to be born, or else we could be facing a complete crash in the gaming industry. It is a known fact that selling consoles lose a lot of money for the manufacturers (although not the Wii), and they make their money through selling accessories and licenced games. Even the games themselves don't make profits for the developers, and piracy plays a big part in that. I'm wondering what the members here think of this. Do you think Microsoft/Nintendo/Sony are going to keep making consoles, and that developers are going to keep coming up with new games? Or do you think that games as we know them are just not worth making anymore, and that there's a risk that we could be without them in a few years?

No need for separate imo, PC Chat is least popular general subforum

Even if it's noticeable, that doesn't make it a "real" moustache. In my opinion, you can't call it a real moustache until it's really hard and bristly, where it can hurt if you spike your finger with it. So I think you should shave it off (once you've shown us), as unless its a "real" moustache it doesn't make you look older/grown up or whatever. The following two images are what I would consider the minimum before you can say you have a real moustache. or

I don't think Ents needs to be split - If you take away the "What are you listening to right now?" topic, there are only 3,045 replies in that subforum, making it even less popular than the graphics subforum. I also think PC Chat should be extended to include other aspects of technology, discussion about phones, mp3 players and stuff as well as modern/upcoming technology etc.

There are three current versatile formats: Blu-Ray (not blue-), HD-DVD (hi def DVD) and the good old DVD. The battle is between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD - both formats can hold a lot more data than DVDs, but different companies support different formats. Some think that the Blu-Ray disks are better because of their larger capacity, others think the HD DVDs are more reliable and cheaper. The most notable devices are the Xbox 360 supporting HD DVD, and the PlayStation 3 having a Blu-Ray drive. Personally, I would go for HD-DVD. Storing 50gb of data on one fragile disk is a little too risky for me. LG is launching their new Super Multi Blue tomorrow at a launch event in London which we (Shock Gadgets) are attending. Moved to PC Chat. Poll edited to include HD-DVD.

The things I do... The files are at: http://www.ttpn.net/zips Please let me know when you have downloaded them, so that I can remove them from the server

There is no limit on the number of mods you can have in the game, although there is a number of cars in the game, you can't add cars that don't exist, only replace ones that exist with new ones. However, we do recommend that you don't install too many mods (10 usually max) in case something breaks, and you can't fix it. Check your carcols/handling/vehicles.ide files to make sure the rows for the blista are there. Also check that all the other cars you've modded are there. Check the number of files in the gta3.img etc. Check everything.

This topic hasn't even been here an entire day yet. Have some patience. I don't know anything about weapons modding - most people just do cars/player/peds/buildings at the most, so I can't help you. Although I know that most things in the game are bound by hardcoded limits, so you can't add more vehicles or gangs or weapons. I know of one high-profile modder attempting to add more police cars, but he had to make a gang of police to allow them to drive it, and those police wouldn't have anything to do with the real police or wanted stars or anything.
-
Glad to see you suggesting some changes. Although you forgot PC Chat and Gaming Chat. Sorting the gangs into public/private/warzone is a good way of doing it, allowing for full access as well as not too much on the board index. The Sport forum is the one I'm not sure would work. After a few searches, it seems we don't have many sport-related topics. I can see us having a few discussions about different sports around the world, and a few topics about the well-known sports, but there really isn't that much we have in common internationally. A discussion about Premiership football would leave most non-Britons out in the cold (as well as a lot of Britons). No offence to the gaming community, but I don't see sport being one of the main things we talk about. Having said that, the sport category is very diverse, ranging from ball sports to raquet sports to athetics to motorsports and other such stuff, so everybody should have something to talk about, but I'm just not sure whether there's much to talk about with other people. Would be interesting to find out, so I think it's worth a try.

Loads of people around that age have a little bit of downy hair above their lip. When we were that age, we all wanted to call it a moustache, but it really isn't one and actually looks a bit silly. Yes it proves you're physically mature enough to grow a little bit of colourless hair, just like all over the rest of your body, but that's totally different to a moustache. I'd say shave it (once a year) but then don't go round saying you shave

How far have you got? How much do you know about modding GTASA? And do you mean just change the sound of the car if it's going slowly, or do you want to do stuff like stop the exhaust smoke etc?
-
That is incorrect. You need to replace the original roadtrain.dff and roadtrain.txd (or whatever vehicle you want) with the modified ones. Even if they come with a different name (eg linerunner.txd) you can rename them before you replace them. However, whenever you edit the gta3.img file, you should always make a backup of what you replace. You don't need to copy the entire gta3.img file, you can just extract the original roadtrain.dff/txd to a folder. Then if there is a problem, you can just get rid of the broken ones and put the originals back where they belong. The chances are that if it worked for a while, then it was a different modification that is broken. The game probably tried to load another car that you had modded incorrectly when you approached it in your Scania. Check all the cars you've modded, make sure both the dff and txd files are there, and that the old versions are NOT there.

Click the red arrow next to their name and the date in the quote title to go directly to the post. Looking good as always Sky - although you might want to iron your shirt next time...
-
If the game freezes/crashes, that's usually because it's trying to load a car and it can't. Go through and check all the cars that you have modded, to see if they work. Chances are one of them is broken. Use a car spawner if you can't find them all. If the game crashes when you get near to where one should be, or when you spawn one, then you know that car is breaking the game. Check the gta3.img to make sure that both the .dff and .txd files exist with the right name, and check the vehicle config files (handling, carcols, vehicles.ide) to make sure the lines for that vehicle are there.
-
Glad I could help. blistac.dffblistac.txd
-
Could you be a little more descriptive? Does it crash? Does it not start? Does it bring up an error message? Does it work but you can't figure out how to install mods? Don't forget that you have to put the files into your San Andreas folder (c:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas) and run GGMM.exe from there. If that works, do you know how to install mods with it? You go to "install" then "manual installer" to fill in the filenames and config lines. Once the mods are installed you can click on the original car's name on the list on the left and see the modded car to check that you installed it correctly.
-
That's weird. Try using a different car spawner, as it should either load up properly or crash the game. If that doesn't work, you should uninstall the mod by replacing it with the original blista.txd and blista.dff that you should have backed up when you installed the mod. If you didn't backup those files, ask here and we'll post them up for you.

He DID say he wanted to understand the hex code... not how to get a program to translate it.
