I can understand not liking the whole gay sex aspect of things, but what's wrong with all gay men in general? You added me as one of your friends on this forum today, but will you stop liking me because you know I'm gay? In all honesty, so long as it doesn't affect you, it shouldn't make a difference what I do in my personal time. And Righty, you really should come out eventually. Especially if you want to 'score'

It's probable that this version of Liberty City will be a lot bigger than the mini-cities we've had before. Las Venturas is about a sixth of the size of the main part of Las Vegas. If Rockstar got their act together, they could make one city the size of San Andreas. We don't know if helicopters are still in, but they're more useful in close quarters.

According to someone who has read the GameInformer magazine, there will be no planes in GTAIV. Here is the excerpt from the text: Can we verify this information, or do you think it's bollocks? Read my transcription of the audio at Grand Theft Wiki

This is the topic at GTAForums where some girl on MySpace is taking (crappy) pics of the mag and sending them to this guy who is uploading them. It's legit though.

You don't NEED a really good graphics card to play SA. I always managed to play on a shitty 64mb card integrated into my laptop motherboard - hard to get any worse, yet it all ran fine. Just keep SA at a low resolution (options, video options, advanced) like 800x600x32 and don't have the quality set to "high". If it still happens take it down as low as you can - something like 600x400x16 on "very low" - if you still get the problem with that then there'll be a problem with the game, such as a mod not installed properly or something. Any graphics card with a Gig of ram will be able to handle that.

The GTA SA Control Center is a trainer that has a little button for enabling the Hot Coffee mod (download here).

Usually, textures not loading means your PC can't render the graphics fast enough - often caused by not enough RAM. However, with 2GB you have more than enough to run the game. Try picking a lower resolution (try 1024x768x32) and change the quality from "High" to "Medium". Even though that will slightly reduce the quality of the way the game looks, it'll tell you what the problem is. I've never used a PC that can run SA on maximum quality anyway. If you can remember any mods you installed around the time this problem started occurring, try uninstalling them - replace them with your backups.. that you should always make (for this reason). Also, try starting a new game (not a saved game) to see if that helps. Defragmenting a hard drive never ever needs to be done - its an old way of doing things for when hard drives were about 1gb in size, and you needed every kb of space you could find. Don't bother doing it. Ever. There is an alternative to reinstalling the game - you can try installing a second copy of the game alongside your existing one. Leave your current installation alone and go to install another one. When it asks you where you want to install it, pick a different folder name to the one you already use (usually "GTA San Andreas") then it will install it separately. When that's done, try that game (because it has no mods on). If that game works but your old one doesn't, then you know the problem is one or more of the mods that you've installed. But yeah the problem is most likely to be mods not being installed properly. Car names are just editing the american.txd file in \Text with a GXT editor.

Can you link us to the mod or paste the README here, so we can decipher the instructions for you? It probably involves opening the player.img file (in C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\models) with IMG Tool 2.0 and replacing one (or more) of the files listed in there with the one (or more) files provided in the mod.
-
Can you link to the particular mod you're trying to install? Was it Street Racer Neons & Headlights or Neon Mod or something else? The readme for Neon Mod says: Here's a link to TXD Workshop if you don't have it. The particle.txd file should be located in: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\models Ask if you still have trouble.

Not really, there are loads of different inbuilt factors that determine how often a car shows up. These mainly include location and time of day, although sometimes you suddenly see loads of vehicles that you haven't seen for weeks. Chances are the next time you go on, you won't be able to find them anywhere. Your best bet is waiting it out, or if you really don't want to see it much you could replace it with a car that only spawns in certain locations. The airport vehicles only spawn at the airport, and you don't find monster trucks in the middle of San Fierro. If you manage to get hold of a super-rare car (like the hotring racers) or even if you spawn one using a trainer, that would make sure you won't see anyone else driving round in your custom-made ride. To actually go through and modify how often a car appears would be tricky, although I daresay you could alter the vehicles.ide to determine which group of cars it belongs to - I think that is responsible for making trucks appear near the docks, and family cars in residential areas etc.
-
That wouldn't be the problem. If it crashes as soon as it tries to load the car, it means there's a problem with it. Have you installed both the DFF and the TXD files? If there's something missing, then it won't throw up a nice error message, it'll just crash.

GayGamer? You a regular visitor? I think Rockstar are doing a hell of a lot of work to push the IV brand. The trailer countdown (shown on TV) and the trailer itself being two well known icons already. This means that whenever anybody sees a big black IV they will notice it and associate it with whatever they've seen it on. When they see the magazines next month that have the GTA IV previews, they'll think "omg theres that weird logo again" - and they will then look at it and make those connections, even subliminally. It's clever because people will think about it before they know wtf its about. If it was a simple logo and it was obvious what it was for, people who usually aren't into that sort of thing wouldn't bother paying any attention. This way, you captivate the world's attention. But yeah they should do this in the UK too. Would be awesome.

The server has been getting a bit overloaded quite often recently, particularly at weekends. There isn't anything wrong (nothings broken, not being attacked) it's just that we're getting a lot of visitors - which is a good thing. The plan is to upgrade the server a bit to speed it up. My advice is that when the site is going slow, just come back in a few minutes. If you keep hitting 'refresh' then that isn't going to help. See this topic for more information.

You can get cars which are right-hand drive, I know of a few for Vice City and there are no doubt some for San Andreas too. The funny thing is that the player gets in the wrong (left) side of the car and jumps across to the steering wheel, but it all works properly. You can't do this to every car, but Actually getting the cars to drive down the left sides of the road is slightly trickier, and does involve editing the vehicle paths. I know a modder (STM) who does that kind of thing (for GTAGB). You could also go through and reverse the orientation of vehicles by 180degrees so they head in the opposite direction, but that would probably have a lot of flaws, and wouldn't take into account cars automatically placed on the road for missions etc. I'm trying to persuade him to release a mod for this, and I'll let you know if he gets anywhere.

That seems to be true - when you were still in your interview there wasn't one guy that walked past without glancing (several times) at your sister. I can't remember exactly, but I think your mum cracked a joke about she bets it wouldn't be the same if you were sat there (or something)...

The San Andreas Modding Guide should explain everything. Briefly - you have to put the provided TXD and DFF files into gta3.img (in the models folder) using an IMG tool.
-
Even if you installed them correctly, they will only appear in the same places as the cars they replaced. For example, if you replaced a rhino tank with another tank, it will still only spawn at the army base and come after you when you have 5 stars. It only changes the appearance of the car, nothing else. If you want to make cars appear wherever you want them to, you should download a trainer.
-
You guys are useless. If you're going to bother replying at least try to make it useful. The file you need to edit is player.img in the "models" folder in your San Andreas installation. You'll need to use IMG Tool 2.0 to extract the TXD files from player.img (its like a special zip file full of TXDs), then use a texture editor to edit those TXD files. It won't turn out perfect but it should be recognisable. Any more questions, just ask us again.

Making a mod is not easy, and takes a lot of skill and practice. See the other topics on this subject.

Here is the original DFF and TXD files for the Rhino from San Andreas v1: rhino.dff rhino.txd And Jared, reinstalling is a total waste of time and effort when all he wants are those two files, especially since he obviously mods his games quite a bit, it would be hell to go through all that again. Don't forget to backup next time.
