  1. If I approach you with this face... run
  2. Firstly, this isn't the right place to post questions about GTA modding. This topic should probably be in San Andreas Modding (unless its for a different game). Secondly, we have topics in there detailing mods. Here is an extract from the San Andreas Modding Tutorial: But if you still think you can make a mod, There are tutorials on Coding, Making Cars and Texturing. If you have experience modding other games, that'll help a lot. If you're completely new to it and don't have a clue, it's going to be really hard. If you have some specific questions that need answering, let us know. Otherwise, good luck.
  3. Most Funniest Member? Apart from the bad grammar, its false - I won Most Intelligent Member. What I meant by that was if all you wanted was to tell us what your sexual preference is, you could just vote in the poll. If you are actually going to reply, you might as well say something a bit more useful than just repeating what you voted in the poll.
  4. Here are the current votes to date. The poll is now being changed to reflect what we now know about the game. London + the UK [ 33 ] ** [19.53%] The United States [ 70 ] ** [41.42%] Europe [ 28 ] ** [16.57%] Completely Made up city/state/country/area [ 29 ] ** [17.16%] An existing GTA City (LC, VC, SA) [ 9 ] ** [5.33%] What theme should the next GTA have to it? Mafia, Gangster, assassins, explosions, big heists [ 98 ] ** [55.37%] The hood, gangsta, gang-banging, drugs, fights [ 33 ] ** [18.64%] Business, money, fraud, big-scale [ 46 ] ** [25.99%] How should the next GTA's story be managed? One character, you control him/her forever (like CJ, Tommy V) [ 76 ] ** [42.70%] Make or choose your own character skin + personality, but follow the same storyline [ 102 ] ** [57.30%]
  5. Nope. You hit the nail on the head - "straight" is a poll choice so that people can just vote. Repeating your vote by saying "I'm straight" is pointless. If you have nothing to say, just vote in the poll. That answer is okay - because you've exemplified your point. Just saying "I'm straight" isn't useful to anyone. That's exactly right - we like our members to discuss their points of view. Like in arguments, if people just go "I'm right" or "f*ck off I'm right" that helps nobody. Saying "I think ___ because ___" allows discussions to be formulated and provides enough information for people to say their point of view. Just making a statement with nothing to back it up or any reason why makes it pointless.Even if he'd said "I'm straight and I hate the idea of homosexuality" that would have been better, because then it could have been discussed and we'd know a lot more about him. That would be nice, wouldn't it?
  6. When you see the face of the guy, you can see the red bridge behind him - that's different again to the one he walks across and different to the one next to the ferry - it actually looks like he's walking along a high platform as opposed to at road-level. That's five bridges so far then? Don't forget we most likely have three islands, with more than one in between each of them. Flat bottomed suspension bridge, seen in the right picture above stretching wide across the bay Blue/grey metal-framed suspension bridge with the cable-car Tall red metal suspension bridge behind the character, above the park Bridge that the character walks across, with high wooden walkway The bridge next to the ferry - although that could be the flat-bottomed suspension bridge?
  7. That's nice. Do you have any opinions on anything, or are you just so insecure about your sexuality that you feel the need to tell us?
  8. The GTA IV trailer is at: http://www.rockstargames.com/IV/index2.html. The Rockstar server went down around about the time the countdown reached zero, so you may still have problems viewing the trailer. There are some screenshots and alternative links to the trailer. Here are the main points we can learn from the trailer: Set in modern-day Liberty City (based on New York) - there is a Liberty Tree billboard to prove this Non-American character - eastern European accent Immense graphics - millions of times better than the cartoony GTA3/VC/SA Realistic sky, realistic birds, much better quality cars Decent smoke and other particle effects Moving billboards - one advert for KRONOS watches, but all others look fake (Max Renda, Cluckin' Bell) Awesome sky effects with moving shadows BUT.. is this just the first of several trailers? Will we see another trailer for the next city soon?
  9. Well I got all my mates to camp in my garden where I've putting up a big screen to show the trailer as soon as it becomes live.. some have been queuing for six days to get the front row. I let the first few in for free, but then realised the money spinner this could be, and started charging £50 a square-meter for lawn space.
  10. I like the "Member of the Month" idea... nothing like a bit of pomp every few weeks to lighten the mood a bit. Having awards twice a year doesn't sit right, its a bit of a waste of time and effort doing them twice, and bear in mind that it would only be for the past six months, so longer-term contributions may not be recognised in the short term - that's where Member of the Month comes in.. Also for the titles, they would have to be "Best New Member.. 2007-H1" then "2007-H2" or something.
  11. The 360 is joining the ranks of the PS3 with the Xbox 360 Elite - which brings a 120gb hard drive and HDMI output.. that might influence your decision
  12. Um.. I don't tend to pick people of any gender just so long as they like computers... there's a little more to sexuality and relationships in general than that. If you sat down and wrote a list of what made guys different from girls... nine times out of ten I would prefer the male property. Nobody's perfect, but I just don't like girls. I'm sure there are lots of nice girls (making up a lot of my friends), just as I'm sure there are a lot of nice 90-year-olds. Doesn't mean I want a romantic relationship.
  13. The one thing I'm unsure of is what it's going to be like when I'm old... gonna be pretty weird not having a little old lady to totter around with.. you don't see old gay couples very often
  14. I think you times'd by two again....
  15. I agree. Although (as you know) I'm a big fan of upping the game on user groups. However, the rank system is a less-formal easier-to-implement doesnt-really-matter version of interpreting status and respect. You know how militaristic I am... well the rank system would be awesome if we had REAL ranks...
  16. I understand your suggestion. When you reach a certain number of pips, instead of adding on more you double up on top of the existing pips. It's not a bad suggestion, but as said above the way pips work is one image that is repeated X times depending on how many posts you have. As spaz suggested, you could have one image that has the light/dark pips on, but that would mean creating about 20 different pip images - possible but tedious (and you know Chris....) The simpler alternative is just to give out fewer pips. The forum has grown loads since the rank system was modified - only two members had more than 2,000 posts, and now there are nine, and loads more have 1,000 posts - so those ranks shouldn't be at the top of the tree anymore.
  17. Good on you Glad to see some people not judging people on something they don't know much about.
  18. I don't mind straight people as long as they act gay in public
  19. Perhaps a better way of looking at it is how far down the page it is. If its right at the top, feel free to reply If its past halfway down the page, think whether its going to be useful before you post a reply If its on another page, don't bother replying unless its going to be a really useful post This can lead onto when to create a new topic instead of replying - if the subject is exactly the same, use an existing topic.
  20. That idea was discussed when we were designing the new rep system, but we settled on a method where moderators could award rep points, rather than just votes by members.
  21. It depends on the topic. If it is a small topic that has been answered, then an extra reply a few weeks later isn't going to be useful - especially if it just says the same things that have already been said. If it is a big long topic that has been going on for ages, but nobody's posted in it in a couple of weeks, it should be okay to revive it. Here's a rule of thumb: if your reply is going to be useful for people to read, then you can post it.
  22. I wouldn't like the idea of being a kid with two dads/mums - would just be so hard to explain it to all the other kids, and would be embarrassing growing up and stuff. Then again, it's definitely better than having no parents at all. For that reason I think it is immoral to disallow gay adoption - for the sake of the child.
  23. More people read topics than write. If every member posted once every ten minutes they were online, we'd have thousands of posts every day and nobody would be able to find anything useful. One guideline we are including in the upcoming Newbie Guide is that you should only post if it will be useful for other people to read. For example, replying to this topic with "yeah I was wondering that too" would be useless, as it would not bring anything positive to the topic. For the same reason, you shouldn't reply to every topic you read with "yeah I agree" or "me too" - its useless. So in answer to your question.. people are obviously reading things on the forum, but perhaps have nothing useful to post at that time. Also bear in mind whether you're counting "users" or "members" - guests can't post until they register.
  24. That is not how this system works - it is not a level of punishment, it is a permenant record. It doesn't make any physical difference if you have 10 warnings or no warnings. What action to take is entirely the decision of the moderator who warns you. For example, if you bump a few topics and the moderator can see you have been warned for it before, he may take more serious action. If he can see you have never been warned for it before, he may take less serious action (eg a verbal warning). If all record of the warnings was deleted, the moderator would have no way of knowing if this person had done anything bad before. If that were how we did things, we would have to unban all the spammers after 3 months just because they haven't done anything bad since. That's silly. It is true that many members have warnings from when they were new, but all it does is show the next moderator who warns you what you've done wrong. Nobody else can see how many warnings you've had - so it will only matter if you do something wrong in the future.
