  1. Okay, in simple terms. Do you - 1 - Have to put a licensed (legally bought from store) disc in your computer to start the game. 2 - Have a legally downloaded version, like from Steam? From what you're describing, it sounds like something downloaded is missing several important files & when people have asked about issues like this it turns out they have illegally copied versions.
  2. For PC version, get the PS2 style Logitech Dualshock controller & DO NOT run the patch on the game. The Dualshock is the same controller the game was developed w/ (Sierra/VU tested it on a whopping 30 different boxes). I remembered the Dualshock mentioned in a README & it works nicely. If you don't run the patch, the game USUALLY remembers remapping the controls. When I ran the patch, it would tie multiple functions to the same buttons. Once I got out of a truck, pulled a rocket launcher, fired into the engine (right next to myself) & blasted my happy ass halfway back to Havana. Before you take on the Drive-in, buy the "Driver" henchman & store his AK. It also helps to get the "Enforcer", he has the M-79. These will both help when the boss shows up. For video I'm running an N-vidia 5500 w/ 256 meg of video RAM & 1 gig on the board, & I still see a little lag. Scarface uses some kind of shading effect that's a total hog.
  3. Open a new folder & call it SA BACKUPS, copy your user files to it. It's that simple.
  4. In VC the export boards had the names added in the TXD & I edited them w/ Windows Paint, I expect SA to be similar. Chris82 - Thanks for the link to the map tool, that should be a little quicker/easier than manually digging through GTA3.IMG.
  5. I'm going to Disneyland. Look, a 6-foot talking mouse. I NEED AN ADULT!!! I NEED AN ADULT!!! I'm leaving now.
  6. So you deleted the Police Rancher, did you put anything in it's place? I don't have them extracted so here's a quick fix - http://www.thegtaplace.com/downloads/file.php?id=1306 It's a Police Hummer H2 by JVT made as a replacement for a police car. Jvt knows his stuff & makes some of the best cars you can get. Rename the DFF & TXD to the ones you deleted & enjoy the new H2. Don't forget to rebuild the archive. For future reference, anytime you want to replace a model extract it to your desktop & tuck it into a folder of original SA cars. If you did this in VC I probably could have gave you the original TXD & DFF (these do not crack the EXE file so they're okay to distribute).
  7. It's SA, so start looking at peds. The Clown driving the Mr. Whoopy could be made into a Joker. RanxoraX has been working a lot w/ the peds, if he sees this he'll probably know the name of the driver. Extract the ped's face & replace one of the haircuts (This should be easy for the guys working w/ models). Go to Dieder Sachs & find a suit you don't care for, extract the TXD for it & change the color to purple. Instant GTA Joker.
  8. The movie from the (early) '803 featured Ron Howard, AKA Ritchie from the sitcom "Happy Days".
  9. As I recall, the final missions are triggered after you finish the print works missions. Then the last strand starts from there.
  10. The purple one is in a trash pile in the abandoned casino on the North end of Alderney, but it's just scenery so you can't pick this one up.
  11. Yeah, thought I'd find you here (Sky). I'll have to get pics of the Pinto for some old school hatch action.
  12. Close enough (Shoot the wings off a fly). Pass, I'm out.
  13. Dragon Stealths saw this one a while back, but I feel like bragging - Plane landed intact on top of carpark next to Camel's toe in LV, taxied down to 3rd level for the shot.
  14. "The Shootist" What skill did Phil learn in the Army?
  15. One of the local shops carries the purple 2-headed monster I use to whack annoying peds in SA.
  16. A couple things come to mind - I don't have Vista but everyone I've talked to says the Vista "Aero" interface is a total resource hog & you can boost your performance by shutting it off. Most of the cars & models used in mods are (much) higher res than the originals so they will push your video card. I changed almost every car in VC & now I have whole buildings popping in & out. Between the 2, that's probably why your machine drags even though you're well above the minimum specs. Good luck on getting it sorted.
  17. Good going, I©e, you kept at it & got it. Most people just give up & ask for a save. Take a little pride for being ahead of the curve.
  18. Yes - I have kids older than most of you. Yes - Got my mom a flasher cow fig for Christmas a few years back & Mamma Kitty uses the naughty ice cube trays to make her naughty chocolates. We also share the girl-on-girl stuff.
  19. My dark apprentice has been busy.
  20. Snipitty-diggitty, thank you for flying wit' Snoop-Dog. This has been MTV's Pimp my Plane.
  21. Silberio's about due for another visit. He'll probably show up while I'm busy in the real world. Later.
  22. As they are trying to fit CTW on a DS, I would guess they would go w/ the classic (GTA3) Liberty City to save room & allow more cars & missions.
