Righty
When I ran the IP scan, the IP that this happened on was not a proxy.
Chris
Yeah it was an IP in Bradford, England if I remember correctly and was the same as fire_spinners, but it was blacklisted, and a lot of the proxies mglib used appeared to be real IP addresses but quite obviously weren't. As for restoring backups, a database backup is generated every 24 hours, so we will never lose data older than 24 hours. And for the files, I have every file on my own hard drive so if anything ever gets deleted I can simply re upload it. I'm also writing a script to create a weekly backup of all files in the /downloads/ folder of thegtaplace and storing it on my own server, so in the event of everything getting deleted, I wont have to personally upload 2Gb of data, I can simply use the server's 100Mbit connection That's a brief insight into how it wouldnt matter too much if we were hacked
Spaz The Great
I think we should back everything up like every 6-12 hours. Some of us post regularly, and then forget what we said unless the post is still there.

I posted something on here and it was cut off and set to trash. why? was it offending? if so I'm must apoligize. *oh I see, but you should still remove that avatar of "paluie" becuase its immature and offending Edited November 1, 2005 by Sabin Romero
Gerard
No it wasn't offending, I deleted it because the last posts in the topic were weeks ago - thats called bumping. Your posts weren't bad, they just weren't useful contributions (this is the suggestions forum) so i just removed the bump.

The name changes aren't really name changes. They are called display names and it's an option in the CP((control panel, incase you didn't know)). Steven
So you see, now that proved that IPB is damn cheap while vBulletin is way better. Dude. IPB its WAY better. Vbulitin is only like 20$ while IPB is 160$. It doesn't have to do with the type of forums. Any one can hack any fourm. it happens. So don't blame the forum itself.
