  1. We've known we can fly. The point is that no, you can't modify UMDs. They are just like tiny CDs with plastic covering over them. While reading off of them is possible, and even if someone did add a spawn point for the helicopter, there is no way to put it out, unless everybody owned 2GB memory sticks or Sony put out a UMD burner.
  2. In SA, the intro is not as good. There are no weapons/explosions going off, but there were in both VC and 3. In SA, the water doesn't appear transparent until you got into the water, whereas VC's water was see-through from the land. Oh, and yes, I'll move this to GTA Discussion
  3. Yes, but there are no loading times when traveling from city to city. Also, I didn't say I didn't like Los Santos. I didn't like the missions that took place there because I hate the whole ghetto/gangsta theme.
  4. Halo:CE (PC) Halo 2 (Xbox) Midtown Madness 3 (Xbox) Jak Series (PS2) Socom 2 (PS2) Midnight Club 3 (PS2) The Sims 2 (PC) Half-Life 2, Half-Life: Source, and Counter-Strike: Source (PC) America's Army (PC) THUG2-Remix (PSP) Twisted Metal:Head On (PSP) Ridge Racer (PSP) As you can see, I'm a full on video game addict. These game are of course, in addition to: GTA3, Vice City, San Andreas (PC) Vice City, San Andreas (PS2) GTA: Liberty City Stories (PSP)
  5. There is a reference to the bigfoot rumor in the GTA:LCS booklet. It says "Liberty City was not voted the place you'll likely be eaten by a wild animal. (That title goes to Los Santos)" Los Santos is part of Red County where the countryside was and so bigfoot is referenced. GTA:LCS also references hot coffee. (on a certain mission, Maria asks Toni in for some hot coffee) I think the next GTA will be like San Andreas in customization (like weight, clothes, etc...) but will be much bigger. However, the next GTA will NOT have stuff like getting a mortgage, having kids, etc... because, as Spaz the Great once said "GTA is not The Sims!" While I can't say I admired the Los Santos part of the SA storyline, Rockstar did do an amazing job of the final PS2 GTA game. They crammed all of that onto the PS2 with no loading times and no frame-frate lag. I'm sure the next GTA will be amazing on PS3, what with the first console GTA to run in 720p and above.
  6. I think it will be Vice City Stories, and maybe a San Andreas Stories in 2007. However, if a SanAnStories was made, there would probably have to be some monster-big compression. But yeah, I think the 2006 title will be Vice City Stories.

    Car Skins

Wheels.dff sounds like the car's wheel. A dff is the GTA format for a 3-D model. wheel_alloy64.tga is an image that's part of a texture. A texture goes around a model to make it look like a real world object. For example, a stop sign in GTA (the physical object) is a model, but the color and word on it is a texture. Sounds to me like the modder butched the files, or you didn't do something right. Try downloading the car and installing it again.
  8. You need to go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the game, then go to your install directory (usually C:/Progran Files/Rockstar Games/Rockstar Games/Grand Theft Auto Vice City) and delete the whole "Grand Theft Auto Vice City" folder. Then reinstall the game. You'll still have your saves and the Unhandled Exception should be gone.
  9. I think that there may be an expansion available for PS3 allowing some extension of PSP functionality. While the PSP is confirmed some connectivity to PS3, why should you be able to play PSP games on the PS3 without buying a PSP? That takes away the purpose of buying one and would cost Sony millions.
  10. It is true. If you drive a Sanchez up the stairs on the mission "Calm Before the Storm," then you could fly a helicopter, if only 100ft away or so.
  11. Depends. SA COL files are near impossible to edit at the moment. However, Vice City and GTA3 col files can be edited using steve-m's tool: http://www.steve-m.com
  12. Ditto. Almost every game I play, movie I watch, gadget I use. I could do reviews of games like GTA, Halo 2, Half-Life 2, etc... and gadgets like the PSP, iPod, etc...
  13. Yes, I will send you the file, so PM me your MSN. Also, you put this in the wrong forum, I will move it to the correct one.
  14. Me finding out and being pissed at the fact that I wont get my PC back until at least Wednesday the 2nd. [OT]Doesn't this emoticon look constipated? [/OT]
  15. Dude-I have a simple request of you: CHECK THE TOPIC DATES! LCS has been out for over 4 days so we already know the details. To answer your question, no there are no weapon or driving skill stats. Closed. If you want to know something about the game, search the boards and if you can't find it, make a topic in the proper forum, not bumping pre-release discussion back up.
  16. where is this bike shop <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Bike Shop is under the Staunton/Shoreside Lift Bridge, on the street running along the side of Liberty Cocks Stadium. The disc holds 1.8GB of information, actually. LCS is great, and I'm sure Rockstar will create a Vice City iteration for PSP, but after that, I think if they made a "San Andreas Stories" type game, the (maybe) PSP2 would be out.
  17. How is it bad? From the Stuanton Docks, you can see almost all of Portland. The Draw Distance in LCS is as good, if not better, than San Andreas PS2.
  18. Excuse me? Does that look like bad draw distance? At this point, I am still unsure as to flight.
  19. Rockstar put Custom Soundtracks in as a last minute feature but it didn't work right. They are working on a downloadable fix that will allow custom MP3's. This is most likely also the reason that the game was delayed in the UK.
  20. You can purchase real estate. You purchase the Motorcycle Shop in Stanuton Island and after you sell bikes, it generates money. Easy Credit Autos in Hardwood also generates money after its missions are completed.
  21. That's why I asked him to look at the SCM, because yes, those are both parts of missions. The Dodo in the gxt is a subtitle for a cutscene where Salvatore says "Dodo, Dildo." (Reference to the VC studio mission) But there are several missions where people fly helicopters. (Yes, they do look 100% flyable) So "Helicopter" in the gxt is part of a mission instruction. I think flight is there, because GameInformer said "Players will be able to finally drive motorcycles and helicopters in Liberty City..." [Offtopic-sortof]The bad news is, there are Custom Soundtracks, but apparently, it was a last minute feature R* threw in that didn't work right, as in the Pause menu, it says Custom Soundtracks are "Unavailable" so Rockstar is working on a downloadable patch to fix this. I also have a hunch that this is what caused the European delay. I can also confirm there is no skinning and no saving pictures with a camera to the memory stick. (A camera is in the game though) I hope the patch will also allow both of these because I feel they are missing. Finally, outfits are great. I have just reached Shoreside Vale and there are 9 outfits so far.[/offtopic] All in all, I still think Rockstar has included flight in the game.
  22. How bout looking in the SCM file and looking for any Maverick spawns. Maybe you get one at your mansion after 100%.
  23. Well the only new feature on SSV's map is that, as you said, there is a road to the observitory now, but I think Liberty City is still the right size.
  24. Fido, as stupid as a name as that is, is better than "Mr. Greenjeans," "Kid," or "GTA3 guy." His name is now Claude, unless you can't infer information. Maria called both Claude and Toni "Fido" because they were, at the time, Salvatore's "Errand Dogs."
