If no luck, see if you can get someone to look at the DVD drive. Worst case, they are a simple install & prices aren't that bad. Just avoid the salesman who sold it to you in the first place. You said you got it last year, so warranty should not be an issue. Click the START button on your desktop & look for the option RUN. Select that & type in DXDIAG. This brings up the Direct X diagnostic tool. In a few seconds, the Diagnostic tool comes up, Select the DISPLAY tab. This will tell you what video is installed in your machine. Once you look at this, close the tool (leave the settings alone). Good Luck. PS I still think sharks could be in GTA4!

Low end torque? My '92 F-150 has no problem barking the 10.5x13x15 mudlugs if I let off the clutch too fast. I'm guessing the Jeep has a straight 6?

Chris82 is more the nuts & bolts guy on computers, but start w/ getting the newest set of drivers from Compaq. If you did get a virus, you might have a corrupted driver for the CD/DVD. Hopefully, you got the operating system disc when you got your computer. If you can, consider upgrading to XP Pro & download Service Pack 2 from MS website. They seem to have the bugs worked out & you get Windows Defender & Malicious software removal tool. Also look for AVG (Grisoft, free), or if you can afford, buy a good antivirus package. Some of the other guys can point you in the right direction. You should be able to go to their website, find your model & download an EXE file for it. Put it on the desktop, open it & the rest will happen on it's own. I noticed there was no video card listed, Can yours be upgraded? GTA3 & VC should play on your machine, but SA needs a semi-decent video card.

Currently running custom script (doing my own beta testing). Try the download section for a save game or look in the trading stalls, there's someone doing save games there.

In all fairness, this topic looks like fair game for this section. What am I missing? I'll try the pool table later.

If you don't have one already, get a PS2 style controller. Even w/ bad hands, I've mastered both dance & lowrider missions using one. The only thing I use keyboard & mouse for is manual aiming. Good luck.

Suggest you edit out your e-mail, you could attract a lot of spam. You said PC version, are you using a controller (PS2 style)?

I would expect something for PS3 next year, after the initial release. R* is independent & can make their own deals. Originally SA was PS2 only, but they eventually ported to X-box & PC. There wasn't much warning when LCS/VCS went to PS2, either. Would still like PC versions there.

Alistair - Thank you, full point. I remember hearing (around '90 or '91) viruses were invented by a couple of guys that wanted to make money fixing computers. If anyone has more on that, put it in the appropriate thread or start one for it. chris82 - Show everybody your card.

Keep in mind the original cars are low-poly (only need low end graphics), most of the cars for download are high-poly. Your graphics requirements will go up accordingly. In my VC, I have a lot of high poly cars but I'm running an N-vidia 5500 so it looks/runs great. As a rule of thumb, figure on meeting San Andreas hardware requirements when you start changing models. InevitableGoat - Waddup! Did you get the PM about your VC GXT?

Sounds like the lock-out tools weren't such a bad idea. (I posted about them in another thread). No broken window, no cop interest. What's the source for the bit about no P&S? Hadn't heard that one yet.

I pulled one down from another site a couple years back, but it didn't work. Switch designs made a couple of subs, that's as close as it gets so far. If anyone finds one that works, I'm interested too.
