????? The topic is listed as GTA4 Demo & in the first post of the thread, ps3 player asked about a demo for GTA 4. All I did was pass on the information that X-box Live Market place said they would have one for download (no date specified) that came from their site & made no mention of that information changing, so as far as they're saying they still plan to have it available. As for ruining the game with a demo, Don't play it. I would have saved a chunk of $$$ if I'd played demos of Scarface : the world is yours or DRIV3R. You wanna see pissed, look at the Scarface forums. People claiming to pay $50-$60 (US, or up to 80 euros) for a game that had been promised since before San Andreas only to be released full of bugs. On the other hand, I've bought games based on the demos, like Star Wars Dark Forces (OLD game, ran on DOS 5 on a 486DX. My point is, someone asked an intelligent question & I tried to give an intelligent answer & now this is where it's going. I know this is a little off topic, but gimme a little faith. I'm not making this up.

Just got in, the issue on sale right now is marked DISPLAY UNTIL JUNE 11 & has Tony Hawk on the cover. There was a small footnote that (wasn't even listed in the table of contents) but nothing new in this issue. I'll watch for the new one after the 11th.

The trick to that hovercraft is not to give it gas while turning. Once you get it pointed where you want to go, NAIL IT!!!. There's one parked in Little Haiti between an Empire property & the dump under a red bridge w/ armor & another by the houses in the water south of the Marina (next to the rampage where you use the RPG to sink boats in original Vice City). They both start Time Trials, practice on these a little to get the hang of it. Good Luck

That is harsh, especially from a country that condoned bride burning in the recent past. Look at her naked & it's 5 years, but burning someone is a $100 fine (CNN news story, mid '80s). ????? It's okay, our own government (US) does a lot of strange stuff. There are still "red flag" laws on the books, that require any motor vehicle to be proceeded by someone carrying a red flag to warn pedestrians & people w/ horses of the "Devil's carriage". In Alaska, it's against the law to throw a moose out of an airplane. I would love to see the incident reports that led to that! If someone threw Paris Hilton out of a plane in Alaska, would the moose care?

I think luburgh is right on this one, Saint's row had a lot of good concepts, but the execution was pretty simplistic. Rockstar could add this aspect to Burglary & Robbery, a crime goes wrong & you grab a hostage to cover your escape. They could probably improve on the Ransom, not just a simple get in & keep driving till they pay. Grab someone, throw 'em in the trunk, make a call & set up a drop. The drop could go okay, or it could be a trap. Releasing or killing your hostage could affect a Karma system if used. After all, the game is based on being a criminal.

So in other words, Silberio, she's all the above.

I'm old (& EVIL) so I like coke. Particularly liked Vanilla Coke & didn't like when they changed it back in the '80s. Pepsi @ KFC? They set the fountains to run a little rich, so it's got extra flavor. It's not Coke, KFC (as well as Taco Bell & Pizza Hut) are divisions of Pepsico, so Pepsi's really cheap for them & keeps down the cost of MY chicken.

Create a folder called BACKUP if you want yo save your old file, move the old file there & put the new one in it's place.

Maybe SkyliNe could use this for one of his ideas.

I've seen a few posts about Various Windows errors (the kind that need a wipe & reload). I know what a Buzzkill that is. For damage control, I use a smaller boot drive & a larger data drive. In the event I have to wipe & reload, I only lose the user files folder, which I backed up on my data drive. Also, I use shortcuts to my MP3s to save hard drive space. In the worst case all I really lose is the icons off the desktop. Hopefully this should save people a few headaches.

When I hacked Vice city, I made a separate folder for the game & tested it after every mod or edit I made. I spent like a month on this & changed out almost every vehicle & a lot of the peds in the game. This also included editing of CARCOLS.DAT, HANDLING.CFG & several others, also backed up every time. I also saved the original .TXD & .DFF for each one in case there was a problem w/ the new one. For the data files, Ive seen them available on several sites, so look around. There are also sources for the Main script files. GTA3.IMG, you need to back up your original copy. Good Luck.

This some of what I have for a Script mod I want to make for SA. I claim the character & his backstory as original work, if you want to use, talk to me. Circa 1992 Jack Cassidy From Vice City, related to Phil & associate of Toreno. Is into arms and with NSA Section 13 (No Such Agency) & contacts CJ early in game telling him they have common enemies & compatible goals. Provides missions & rescorces. Started gun running & smuggling in Vice City around '82, worked as heli pilot & goto guy for Victor Vance & Tommy Vercetti. In '87 was in LV in the middle of deal gone bad. Stole SWAT uniform on site & Jacked heli carrying coke & $2 mil. Flew through third floor of carpark nearly escaping except for fuel tank shot out. Arrested in Palimino Creek, but was recruited by Toreno who was impressed with his confidence, flying skill & composure. Prolog 1 monologue, while playing various scenes from GTAVC/VCS "Life is about change. Take me for example, a simple guy from the Midwest until I landed in VC back in the 80s. Wound up workin' with my Lunatic cousin runnin' guns, a little smuggling...you know, a criminal. Then Vic shows up after he got screwed out of the Military & I started working for him. Learned to fly helis, smuggled Krugerrands & Bearer Bonds, robbed the hell outta other criminals. We built an empire. At one point, we were pulling in over $100,000 a day. Not year. Not month. Not week. A DAY!! "All good things, right? Vic's retard brother Lance put together a deal that went south & it all ended with a big shootout & no more Vic. Within a month the empire fell 'cause Lance didn't know what he was doing. But that same deal landed Tommy in Vice & I went to work for him putting together a new empire, this one almost legit. Gets up/dressed & leaves. walks through casino out front door, gets hotdog & gets into electric blue Stinger Daytona (VC Stinger). Drives to LVAP & Gets into Maverick w/ Colombians, flies to meeting. Deal goes bad, LVPD show up & Colombians killed. Cassidy out of sight with breifcase containing $2mil buy money but knows only a matter of time before found, so blindsides SWAT cop & steals uniform. Walks into plain sight to Police heli (now loaded w/ coke) & motions to lone pilot like he's giving him the case. Pilot opens door & Cassidy jacks heli. As he is taking off, Pissed off SWAT cop in boxers runs out, yells "GET THAT SOMBITCH, HE'S NOT A COP!!" Bullets fly & the heli is hit in the fuel tank. Cassidy flies through carpark (3rd floor) & escapes south but runs out of fuel & sets down near Palimino Creek. FBI/DEA catchup as he lands. FBI rancher drives back to LV, but instead of LVPD, it goes to back door of Clown's Pocket casino. Politely escorted to a small room & offered a meal. "Okay, this a new tactic." Cassidy says, "I didn't know interrogations became so pleasant." to the MIBs "it's not an interrogation Jack, it's an interview." Victor Vance walks out of a shadow, alive. "I have some friends who think you could do some good...." Toreno is also in the room. Prolog 2 monologue "So instead of putting me under the prison & sending me little jars of sunlight, I get recruited into a new branch of the NSA as a field OP. Turns out LVPD was corrupt & some of their deals caught the CIA's attention. Vic recognized me & suggested to Toreno I could be useful. Like I Said, life is about change." "After 5 years of blackops I get bumped-up & assigned to domestic anti-terror, so now I can recruit my own people. My job is simple enough, disrupt the cash flow of any entity threatening US national security. Right now, there's a problem in LS I have to deal with." Go to Cut scene where Pendlebury is killed & roll new opening. I also have mission Ideas I'm playing around with, could discuss. I am also interested in hearing from anyone who can build these cut scenes. Gladly give proper credit for work. So, what 'cha think, is this what your looking for? BTW, This new guy provides missions & rescorces for CJ.

I don't how much to work with but here is what I'm running. AMD Athlon 3000+ 1 Gig ram 40 Gig boot drive 200 Gig data drive G-Force 5500 Video card w/ 256 Meg XP Pro w/ latest version Service Pack 2 (as of May 1 2007) AVG Free (available From AVG site) . San Andreas (V1) flies on this machine. If you haven't tried already, go into OPTIONS in your game & lower DRAW DISTANCE & RESOLUTION. The decreased demand on your machine might help. Hit E-Bay for a better video card, Like an N-vidia 4 (GTA 3,VC) or 5 (SA) series w/ 128 + Meg (Starting under $25 shipped US, as of today) Hope you find something here that helps, Good luck.

I saw an episode of Cops (right around '92) where they busted some goofball (I think in Dayton OH) for selling carved up peanuts as crack. At the time selling fake drugs wasn't illegal, so they had to cut him loose. Done right that would be funny in San Andreas. If you're still looking for Ideas, how about CJ has a chance to be a good guy? If you are interested, I have a bunch of stuff on that angle.

Man, I think I'm about to ruin your day. I'm pretty sure that file is part of windows, not the game. I just went through similar problems on my machine trying to run some script edits (San Andreas) on my machine. Before you do a full dump & reload - Which GTA are you running? Try looking in the forums for your game, you might get lucky & find someone who solved that problem. Did you reload your game or the operating system? Are you running cheats or Trainers? Original or edited script? Have you changed anything recently (hard or software). Is your machine running okay? What is your Operating System (98, 2000, XP....)? Do you have anti-virus software up & running. In my case, the first call from Sweet would crash the game. I had to reformat my boot drive & reinstall XP pro. I then updated to Service pack 2 (They Finally Fixed IT!!) & got Windows Defender, which works. I am also running AVG (Free Version, from their site) & use it to scan anything I download. I hope you don't have to go through all that, good luck.

Point taken, my bad. To the topic (Which Do You Think Was Better), My favorite is San Andreas. You can personalize CJ & the cars + there's a ton if side work to do after you finish the Game.

And of course I found the FAQ under Gangs (beta) at the top of any page after I posted. But thanks for looking out for a newguy.

Thanks for the heads up. BTW, Official X-Box magazine (US at least) has some patches on their demo discs, just not comprehensive. I have gotten a few games to run.
