  1. Here's some GTA4 multiplayer stuff. "Here, hold this." - Playing deathmatch, just found the sniper (As I fire the RPG at a rooftop AC housing he was hiding by.) "I'm officially done being nice." - In ranked race after being shunted into wall for the 4th time. "Whatever" -one of the little hoodrats that shunted me (has probably never driven real car). "FUCK!!!" - Same little hoodrat when he realizes I turned around & hit him head-on on the next lap. Lots of cussing usually follow either of those. "This is RETARDED Stupid!!!" - Some poor SOB who stumbled into an RPG only match on Happiness Island. That's fun. "That was tight." - The guy w/ the AK who thought he had me cornered w/ just the lousy pistol. He didn't realize also had a couple grenades. BOOM! That AK served me well. "YOU'RE SCREWED NOW, I HAVE MY ULTIMATE DEATH-MOBILE!!!" - Just before driving the crappy minivan into a firefight. "Look at my CRAPWAGON & fear me!" - Just as everybody opened up on my crappy minivan. Still not sure how I lived. "You could at least let me get out of the water" - Firefight on Charge Island, I kept spawning on the edge of a dock, fell in on the first step. "Whatever." - Brown dot that kept shooting me as I tried to get out. "Whatever." - As I shot the brown dot when I finally spawned on solid land. "Whatever." - As I shot the brown dot when I got an M4. I spent the rest of that match fragging this clown, killed his 6 more times & made it a point to taunt him w/ "Whatever." every time I got him. He didn't have much to say after I started concentrating on him.
  2. When I get into ranked matches I've noticed I only find players around North America & the Carribean. Your problem might just be a lack of players in your region. I don't know if South Africa is in the same region as Europe. I do know or US servicemen taking their X-boxs overseas & having trouble accessing their accounts. You could try "party" mode & invite other users.
  3. You can also get ahold of your provider & have them check your connection, that turned out to be my problem (line needs replaced, BADLY). I get disconnected 2-3 times a day unless it's bad weather, then I don't bother. I'm SOOOOO getting a freebie out of that.
  4. Screenshots 101. Before you start your game, open Windows Paint & select SAVE AS. Name it BLANK & put on your desk top. Start SA & when you see something you want to get a picture of, hit PRINT SCREEN. Pause your game & hit the Windows key (has flying window logo, between CTRL & ALT, either side of spacebar) to get your desktop. Double-click BLANK, right-click inside the blank area & select PASTE. Your screenshot should be here now. Select SAVE AS again & give it a name (like SA cool glitch or similar). Return to your game by double clicking on it in the toolbar at the bottom of your screen. Share w/ your friends or intimidate your enemies!
  5. At least you got your laptop to run it. My Acer has an AMD 2800 running at 1.8 gig & the game barely loads. A lot of the following is based on the presumption that you can upgrade your laptop. The on-board graphics just won't give you good performance because the main processor is splitting work between the game & showing you graphics. A separate video card takes the load off your processor & lets it concentrate on handling game instructions & user inputs, so the game runs faster & smoother. There's other people here that can explain it better but that's the short answer. On the AMD machine, I presume you mean 768 MEG of RAM. Upgrade to 1 gig & look for a video card along the lines of an N-Vidia 5500 (suggested only as a point of of reference), preferably w/ 256 meg or more of video RAM. The 1.3 gig chip is still a little slow for SA but w/ a decent video card should give you better performance. If you can get a better processor that helps.
  6. It's an adjustment, but I have no problem losing the cops w/ a Stretch (2-star) & it's a real pig to drive. Related question - Are the multi-player races using different handling than the single player game? I ask this because I can drive a car through parts of the map w/ no problem but in a MP race the same car blows turns, won't stay straight & has little to no brakes. What am I missing?
  7. Is this a mod or do you just like her picture?
  8. They're all good but my overall favorite so far is SA. It's pure "over-the-top" GTA at it's best, has the most to do & tons of mods. I'm currently playing GTA4 & it does look the best of the bunch, just miss the sidework from previous GTAs. Also the best storyline so far.
  9. Bump. I'm just too lazy to look for this again when I get ready to log off later.
  10. Everything you need to know, right here. http://www.thegtaplace.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6666
  11. I have a similar problem, but it's because my cable connection is FUBAR & the cable company needs to replace the line leading to the house (they're SUPPOSED to replace it this month). Fortunately it works most of the time. I mention this in case other members have no luck setting their routers & may need to have their connection checked.
  12. I agree, Way off-topic (unless you're making a ped model of her). This should be in the lounge or somewhere like that. But yeah, she's fun to look at.
  13. On PS2, "Bomb da Base" was one of the few times I used cheats (PS2, all weapons) in GTA. I just don't have the hands for targeting w/ a PS@ controller. When I got the PC version I got it the first time since I was aiming w/ a mouse. God, I wish my Xbox had a mouse. GTA4 deathmatches would would be a lot easier on me.
  14. ^^^ LEGALLY! Wow, 15, that's a lifetime ago. Savor it, I miss that age. Happy birthday.
  15. It depends on how busy staff is at the moment. I think there's only one or two who do this. GTA4 just launched, the school year is winding down & things are just busy so it might take a little time. The guys WILL get to it as soon as reasonably possible. What mod are you submitting? (personal curiosity)
  16. J-Love might be right. If you saved after using a cheat (depending on which one) some of your missions will be screwed up. Zmoonchild knows a little more on this. Otherwise your game glitched & you might need to un-install, defrag your hard drive (to make sure you get rid of the old install) & re-install. Your saves are in a different folder (MY DOUCUMENTS/GTASA USER FILES) but you could back them up if you want to (in case they're not corrupted). Good luck.
  17. Let me rephrase, is it always there or is it a reward?
  18. The ocean route works best for me. As soon as you take off, head north over the ridge & drop to the water (watch you altitude) & follow the coast heading west. Fly down past San Fierro & pop over land at Angel Pine for your corona. Take the same route back. Every time I've had plenty of time (PC & PS2) so don't worry about the clock. The Rustler can be a little challenging, you could try practicing w/ the Dodo until you're comfortable. If you haven't got to the corona yet set a waypoint at the gas station (where you meet Cesar at the end of "Photo Opportunity") for your practice runs. Keep at it & good luck.
  19. ^^^ Is that the one you get for ? (Wasn't sure if that counted as a spoiler.)
  20. Yo' mamma got a wooden leg wit' a kickstand! That should keep rem busy for a few minutes.
  21. ROCKET LAUNCHER FIGHT AT THE AIRPORT FTW!!!!!! Later.
  22. I hate rap, even more than country. Having said that, there are a few that are okay. Bizmarkie (spelling?) & Coolio make me laugh & I've got a laidback remix of Ice-Cube's "Good Day" for SA. I prefer Joe Satriani, Ranstien, the Leningrad Cowboys & sometimes Steve Via doing Beethoven. Some days I just want Parliament & Ohio Players. To each their own (as long as they're not in an online match & put some crappy stuff over the mic).
  23. Bus - Just head for Star Junction (AKA Times Square). Slow & ugly, next best thing to a tank. Ripley (airport fuel truck?) - Parked several places on the airport tarmac, usually behind baggage carts. Takes a beating. Rebla (SUV) - One of the random spawns near the first savehouse. Step out, turn right & towards the end of the block. switches off w/ a couple semi-decent cars. They're not bad for getting the hang of GTA4 driving physics. Schafter (spelling?) - same place as random Rebla. Basic 4-door driven by Russians in Hove Beach. Decent to drive. The book gets a FAIL for not including the cars for GTA4.
  24. Vic was the one killed in the shootout in the beginning of VC, the character model looks the same as the one used in VCS. In VCS references are made to Pete being handicapped, Vic joined the military to help take care of him.
