Sabin
There is this ad Flash banner on this forum that make my comptuer freeze and come to a crawl. I'm thinking the person who made that ad must be a idiot. Because I have a Phenom Quad core and 4Gb ram and this thing kills my computer. I'm not suggesting anything can be done about it from the site owner here. just thought I'd bitch about it. lol
Chris
We had to update our ad codes the other day so I'm guessing that's why we've been having these new ads that seem to pop in to the entire screen if you accidentally rollover them. Unfortunately we're required to display them because of our hosting agreement which gets us a fully dedicated server to ourselves. I'll send off an email about it and see if there's some problem in the flash code for particular banners that that particular vendor can fix so if the ad is displayed it'll be normal. Thanks for notifying us about this. If there are any others that are slowing your systems down post them in here. Screenshots would help too. Sabin
I have RightMedia account in the yeildmanager too with Globalinteractive. Probably nothing you can do about it if you contact your account manager. There really isn't any editorial control for the publisher. Hopefully there impressions run out and the banner creative goes away. Seriulsy they should check those things before putting them out. Using 100% cpu for little flash banner is great way to annoy people.
EvoLuTioN
You can just get AdBlock Plus plugin for firefox and get rid of all the ads if they annoy you. Only the front page appears a bit messed up wih a big gray bar beside the Join the forum/member detail box.
Damjan
^or just don't use firefox. Also if you have a good AV,it will block the ad's on every page. Also see bottom-right corner. Edited March 8, 2009 by Steam

Mpilk901
LOL Rappo. Yeah these pop-up ads are beginning to bug me too. I'm sick of seeing messages like "EAT LEAD!". Maybe I'll look into getting an ad banner too. It's annoying because most pop up without even scrolling over them.

Chris
He is using that already, you can see the BLOCK tab on the top right of each flash element. And yeah those ads happened to me too, they take up a shitload of screen space and do it without you even rolling over them. I do hope these aren't driving away visitors because it's pretty ridiculous to be honest.

JustADummy
Also see bottom-right corner. FTW. Back in 2007 I got those stupid ads with AVG, now with kaspersky (Upgraded sometime in November 07) it blocks all ads without any security modification. Get it! rockstarrem
I've had no problems at all. I hard refreshed the home page and forums three times to make sure that I'm not experiencing any shit. AdBlock + is taking care of it... not sure why it's not for other people. Site homepage: Forum homepage:

rappo
You should try to contact UGO, Chris. That advertisement from my screenshot (the big square one) pops up A LOT for me, and that would probably drive me away from the website if I were a new visitor. It blocks the entire front page
MrLlamaLlama
^ Yeah, i get the random medievil mmorpg ads pop up all over my screen alot. In other news, this is the worst advertisement to a given demographic, ever. Truly epic product placement.

Chris
Today I received an updated version of the ad codes to put on the site. This should fix all those popups that fly in all the time. If you do still get any, they should be restricted to a maximum of one per day. We apologise for the inconvenience this was causing.
