  1. Nah, pricedown should only be used where the words "grand theft auto" or "GTA" are used, not absolutely everywhere on a site just because its about GTA. It's fine for the logo, but we need just something cool for the group icons. And good job on the changes - here's an updated list. There is not enough difference between new+nonew forum/topic icons All the wasted space sucks for people on resolutions smaller than 2048x1024, which most people are not (including me, 1024x768). Bearing in mind I have 768px of screen height, minus the taskbar, minus Firefox's window, minus other toolbars and extentions, probably 500-600px left Still no group icons, but you have made the left half of renderrow neat
  2. I watched the first half, and it wasn't too bad. It wasn't so much that we were good, but Paraguay had an awful start - conceding an own goal and losing their keeper in the first ten minutes of the game - "the stuff of nightmares". Good result though, which I suppose is all that matters.
  3. Here goes There is not enough difference between new+nonew forum/topic icons Although I like dark sites, the colours contrast too much here There is only like 2px padding on body, so everything is stuck right to the edge In the header, there are two loads of ads and a couple of unused lines, meaning loads of wasted space All the wasted space sucks for people on resolutions smaller than 2048x1024, which most people are not (including me, 1024x768) Bearing in mind I have 768px of screen height, minus the taskbar, minus Firefox's window, minus other toolbars and extentions, probably 500-600px left There is an entire screen of wasted space below the bottom of the forums with the adverts, copyright and everything. I am completley sick of alternating post colours, which make it impossible to blend a signature in. What fonts are posts in, Arial? Looks too compressed to me. Small is good so long as you're using verdana. Header is a bit too cluttered, should be simpler Still no group icons, but you have made the left half of renderrow neat Arcade isn't fully integrated, with some text not visible And I like how you've completely removed all the links to my sites Blue links against dark background can't be seen unless bold (like the nav) for example the copyright links
  4. It's not bad, but personally, I'm undecided on it. Still need group icons though
  5. Err.. MVI This is the Vice City Stories forum. Yes it will be set in one city, and one city we've seen before. Hence appropriate discussion.
  6. A modified .exe is a modification, and that is the most likely cause of your problem. If you still have the box and everything from the original game, you can email/phone Take 2 and get them to ship you another CD (so long as you can prove you currently own it). They won't mind, they'll prefer it to you using a cracked copy, and it'll make savegames work. For reference, I once borrowed my friend's cracked copy of GTAIII. He took back the play disk but left the install disk. I could install the game, crack it so that it didn't require the play disk, and disable windows audio so that it didn't go looking for the files that didn't exist. That meant the game would play, silently. Problem is, the modified exe didn't like savegames, and I could only play what I'd kept doing that time I'd run the game, and saving never worked. The solution? Buying the game (again if you have to), or at least using a legitimate copy of the disk.
  7. It's just a joke referring to the t-shirt and what some people think GTA games make you do. The intention was to reply joking about things you'd done in real life that GTA made you do.
  8. Better AI in the road department too is desperately needed. What happens if there's a car stopped in the middle of the road... all the peds drive their cars into the back of it and go flying. They should stop, get out and maybe push it out the way then drive on. On another note.. I'd like to see peds actually setting fire to things when there're riots, not just rooves randomly burning. More ped crimes such as burglary, pickpocketing/bagsnatches, murders etc (although probably not rapists). The cops should be seen to be responding to this.
  9. ^ See - this guy knows what he's talking about. I agree, I think things you do should be a bit more permenant - if you leave a car somewhere it should stay there (for a couple of days) or get stolen, not just disappear. If you dig a hole or chop down a tree or blow up a building (or whatever GTA4 lets you do) it should stay for longer. Yeah there really is no point to having children in the game - wild animals such as deer maybe, and horses could be fun to ride but thats 'Gun' not GTAIV. It's a gimmik and just isn't worth the hassle it would cause. I can hear it now "It's a game where you have to kill children and babies and be evil because you're the devil". Great. I don't think I've agreed with anybody for a while congrats
  10. After playing San Andreas for seventy-nine hours straight, how many of you have walked outside, jumped in the nearest porshe, driven through the nearest police station and killed 20 cops and an old lady with some shopping bags? I know I have, and I know why. GTA Made me do it. (T-shirts cost $16.95 from ZeStuff) So come on, how many of you have tried to swim fifty miles, jump off a dam and murder pedestrians just because you did it in a GTA game?
  11. If you have modified your game (script mods, not just cars and things) then you can't load from an existing savegame. You will need to start afresh or use a compatible savegame. If you have bought the game from a shop recently (past few months) then it will no doubt be San Andreas version 2, which only has a couple of changes. I'm not totally sure, but I think (some?) v1 savegames won't work with v2. If that is the case, you have two choices - either use a v2 samegame (which some people might have) or downgrade your game to v1. Sorry I can't think of anywhere to get either off the top of my head. Sure somebody will know though.
  12. I (shamefully) use GTA SA Control Center To spawn a car (that you've modded and wanted to test) download, install and run SACC, takes a while to load click the "auto-inject" button on the front page (bottom left) run SA, load a game, walk outside, alt-tab back into SACC choose a car from the list to spawn, pess "spawn selected vehicle" alt tab back into SA, and the vehicle should appear right in front of you repeat for every car you've modded if it suddenly crashes, you know that car is corrupted and restore your backup or check the handling etc for it
  13. *ahem* Was my idea actually Yeah I agree with Spaz, would still be fun to play but not for Rockstar to spend years making and selling in the shops. MVI should remember my short stint running GTA London like a year ago. He made some underground caverns (which we never released). They were quite fun to go in and everything but it is clear that it isnt a game in itself. As for having small dinosaur peds... would be quite funny. Dinosaur car would be just strange. I'd like to see it done though. Not sure whether I'd pay, thats all
  14. The shamal isn't the hardest to land (that's the andromeda) Drop your landing gear quite far away, that will slow you down a bit. Get quite low so you aren't descending from miles high when you land. As soon as you're lined up with the runway, press S or Down or whatever your brake/reverse key is to slow yourself right down Then when that key is pressed, line yourself up, and make yourself level You should just skim the big ramp things at the end (or the lights if at Easter Bay) Land no later than a quarter of the way down the runway, and you should be fine, keep that brake on. Hope that helps.
  15. Yeah okay. You learn how to script mod, and get MVI to do the caves and dinosaurs. Make Grand Theft Auto: Dinosaur a mod
  16. Yes people DO visit the "classic games"... San Andreas and Vice City are not "classic" yet. Moved to SA Gameplay. Also, you can buy the soundtracks from the last couple of GTA games on CD. For Vice City, you can also buy individual stations and "greatest hits". Have a dig around to find the best option for you. San Andreas Soundtrack Vice Ciy Soundtrack However, since you don't strike me as the kind of guy that likes paying for his music (no offence), you can extract the radio files from Vice City (never tried for San Andreas) using tools available in our Downloads Database
  17. Has to be the turismo for me. Somehow.. it's just got "it".
  18. It's G, Gerard, Gez, Gezmond or Gezebel. But never Gerarrd. And thanks everybody
  19. Thanks - added Also, if anybody actually knows why scms won't allow you to restore a savegame from a differently modded (or unmodded) scm file, please let me know. Thanks STM.
  20. nono he means something like this: Sheesh.. imagine Nitro on that thing...
  21. Its a new idea i suppose, and isnt as wacky as the moon or underwater or in caves. I like the idea of a journey, thats how all the games have been so far - island to island. Pretty big journey mind, and California would just be San Andreas again (VC=FL, LC=NYC)... so maybe just Washington to Alaska or something. Arctic tundra would be cool too

  23. Yeah it's looking good. Having the GTA forums higher up is certainly an improvement, but the Community section still seems clogged up. There are too many irrelevant subforums. The Trading Stalls hasnt been posted in since February, but is it really gonna be used more? And is the webring any use? Isn't imo.
  24. On Vice City (havent tried with SA) you used to be able to fill up a garage with cars, but if you reloaded the game it never saved more than the maximum number of cars for the garage. So in other words you can fit as many cars as you like into a garage, but as soon as it has to save it or load it, it won't remember more than its maxiumum.
