Deary me this seems to have caused some controversy. Just cos I wanna join in, here's my thoughts on the matter. The world of GTA2 is three dimensional. In a game, 3 dimensions mean that there is a model, that can be moved and the 'camera' can move around it to get different views. In a game, 2 dimensions mean that they have to manually redraw the object to get different viewpoints. For example, this drawing of a dog by someone you may have heard of: Adolf Hitler. If the artist wanted to make the dog look the other way, or see the back of the dog, he'd have to draw it again. Yes he could use the original image for reference, or trace some of it, but he would have to draw it again. He can't just look at it from a different angle. This makes the dog 2 dimensional. Now take this rather fetching statue of Josef Stalin: If that brush dude wanted to have a look at the back of Stalin's head, he only has to move himself round the other side and he can see it. This is because this is a three-dimensional model rather than a two-dimensional image. If you take a look at this screenshot of GTA2: You can see that your perspective view of the buildings changes when you go round the side of them. This is because the buildings are three-dimensional models, like the statue. Your view of the cars do not change, they are static non-moving images, like the drawing. GTA2 = 3D game with 2D camera movement It's kinda halfway between 3D and 2D, but it DOES use models rather than just images moving around on top of each other (like pacman, for example).

Version 2 of San Andreas is a new version Rockstar released which fixed some problems and prevented the Hot Coffee mod being activated. Savegames from version 1 will not work on version 2, and vice versa. If you use a replaced/modified main.scm file, you can't use savegames that came from the original or a differently modified game, and vice versa.

At the moment, both the shop and the gang scene are defunct. The coding isn't finished, and we haven't started the initiatives to get everything underway. There will be new prices, new rates, new gangs, new rules, new things to buy and new things to do. When the store and gang system are finished, we'll start fiddling about with the settings. We'll let you know when they're ready to use again.

The newest Intel CPUs that are currently available are the Intel Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme... but they won't be out for a few months yet. The best ones you can get now are Intel Core Duo or Pentium 4 Extreme Edition with HT, which goes up to 3.73 GHz at my last count. That's not true.Dual-Core processors are single processor chips, except they essentially have two processor cores built into them. It can be viewed as two separate processors on one chip, but this varies at lot - they often share an L2 memory cache or other I/O BUS functions. The problem with faster processor clock speeds is heat. Basically the processor engine can operate at only so much RPM before the engine will 'seize up' - and that means errors. A Windows PC running at.. say... 10GHz isn't much good if it can't make it past booting up before crashing. Dual cores get around this problem by firing two slower processing cores together. A dual processor system is one that has two separate physical processors on separate parts of the mainboard. A dual core CPU is a single processor that has two processing cores on the die.

Well it will be useful one day. And being able to get interest by banking your points is a good use for it (being able to buy more useful stuff). It will probably turn out (moreso than before) that people with more points can do more things, for example have their own blog or gallery, or be able to create a gang. You need to return to the forums regularly to collect interest or gain more points, so that is an incentive to come back, so long as it is worth it in the end.
-
Would a higher interest rate encourage members to use the store/banking facilities? I'm actually pretty surprised people noticed so quickly

I liked Vice City because it was the first GTA game I played (didn't have GTA3). I loved the exploring and the massive range of things you could do (compared to all other games). It's just old hat by the time San Andreas came around, same-old same-old, just bigger with more extra crap that I never do or use. Now I don't mind the capability to do loads of random things like have girlfriends and eat and get fat and choose clothes and get tatoos and pick a hairstyle and manage your money and refill your cars. But, I don't want to have to do it. It isn't freedom if you're forced to do it. But yeah the music was great, and really immersed you in the game entirely. San Andreas had a few good songs on it, but they didn't match the gameplay quite as much. Plus I love 80s music

what kinds of weapons you want in the next gta
Gerard replied to I'm rich bitch's topic in GTA IV Discussion + Help
Yeah interaction with the environment is one of the most asked-for things in GTA4. Kinda like HalfLife2, I think. -
Yeah the random colour thing was a bit tedious. I'd also like some different coloured cop cars, make things a bit more interesting.

does anyone else forget to read the dates on topics
Gerard replied to deadmanjeff's topic in Members' Lounge
Yeah, there is something I'd like to add to that though. Sometimes, a member gets a bit over-excited and posts replies to every single topic in an entire subforum at once (or at least loads.. like 20/30). This "bumps" the topic out of order and can mean that recent topics get dropped to the bottom out of view, and the ancient topics are right at the top. Bumping an old topic, so long as it is a reply that will be useful for members to read, is fine. Bumping an old topic with something useless like "thanks" or "me too" is not good. Bumping lots and lots of topics in one day, old and new, because you're bored/excited is not good. If you want to reply to a topic just to say something to one member (like "thanks") then use the Personal Message system instead. If a NEW member bumps a topic we'll just let them know about the rule. If an existing member bumps ONE topic, we'll usually let it fly and just delete the post. If an existing member bumps loads of topics and causes disruption, we'll delete most of them, but won't warn. If an existing member bumps a topic and has already been told about bumping before, they will be warned. If an existing member, who is warned for bumping topics, bumps more topics, they will be warned again. If you genuinely don't know about bumping rules, we'll let you know and we wont penalise you. -
does anyone else forget to read the dates on topics
Gerard replied to deadmanjeff's topic in Members' Lounge
Lots of people forget, but it isn't very hard, only takes a second. Easiest way to do it is not to reply to topics that are too far down the list - if you have to go onto a 2nd page then it's definitely too long ago to post in. We don't ban you if you do it a few times or anything silly like that, new members aren't always aware of the rule. If someone bumps a few topics badly (not just a one off) we'll let them know. If that person refuses to stop bumping topics or fails to heed our warning then we begin taking action. It's still a pretty simple rule to follow - and we don't ask much -
Depends which is better for you. SA has more capabilities, simply because it is a more advanced game. You can install more cars and clothes and it is a bigger area to play around with too. Vice City has the advantage of having a wider range of the few types of mods it can support, although San Andreas is overtaking it (slowly).

The JD is close, but I'm not sure he's following me entirely. I'm not on about the big steel gates at the airport, nor road barricades. However there are more than one of the gates I'm talking about, and they all open at the same time.
-
Nope Remember: think outside the box.
-
Okay... here's a bit of a riddle. See if anybody here can find a gate that doesn't open until you get to Las Venturas.
-
Nah its okay, we do encourage showing off your graphics. When we have the store up and running again you will be able to sell signatures you make and buy them off other members. Glad to see somebody's still doing that.
-
Vehicles will probably be used as a gateway to other things. For example, you may need to take your gang members TO a gang war, and you can only fit certain numbers in certain vehicles. Or, you need a vehicle to be able to purchase properties further away from you, or to visit further away shops. Something along those lines.
-
There isn't actually a point to the vehicles at the moment, we're trying to work that into the gang system at some point though. The store, items and gangs are only applicable to these forums, and you can't use them ingame or anything like that.
-
The general idea of the store is to reward members who post regularly with fake money. In the store you could buy tools such as a username change, and buy effects to add onto your display name. It also played a big part in the old gang system (which is currently being revamped), with gangs buying vehicles and weapons to use against other gangs. You earn money by posting replies, topics and polls, and also by completing the quizzes. If members misbehaved, staff could fine them large sums of money. The store is also the centre of your money management. You can bank the money that is in your hand, and earn interest on it, which you can later collect. One other, more sinister use for the store is to attempt to steal money from other users - although this isn't always successful and you could find yourself wasting money on it.
-
It's the same key as start sub-mission (eg vigilante, ambulance, etc). You should find it goes a lot faster with that up. In the Hydra, don't forget to tilt the engines backwards (alternate up/down) so you go forwards, or else it'll fly like a chopper.
-
Have you modified the game at all other than the no-cd crack? And is the game downloaded or a bought version just cracked for convenience? Bear in mind these cracks do mess up the game occasionally, and if you've installed any other mods wrongly then that could be a problem too.
-
Okay then that's your problem. Never pirate software. And if you do, don't tell a forum full of people who have paid for it. CLOSED
-
BUMP I don't think 8 replies is exactly a representative sample of the community. If we're going to bother doing something for these forums we need you to at least vote. Plus, if you aren't sure what we're asking, say so. Thanks for voting, either way.

I'm not going to suggest. You hate all my fonts. Well.. the ones I've used as logos and stuff anyway. Okay okay. Here are some fonts I suggested a few months ago. Alternatives are to use SIMILAR fonts, FANCY fonts, or BORING fonts.
