We already have a Creativity forum, which is for exactly that sort of thing. Staff members don't have time to make signatures for everyone, so any member can simply reply and accept the offer to make one.

They are very old suggestions, but the likelihood of Rockstar completely repeating all their past cities is very slim. They have already announced that the next GTA game will be completley new, featuring a brand new storyline and characters and game engine and everything. London appears to be the favourite, but some other contenders are emerging strong...

There is no chance that GTA4 would come out for the xBox 360 first, Take 2 and Microsoft have no proper business relationship. The first game (GTA4) would have to be able to run on pc+ps3+360, to ensure a big market and good sales. The games after that (GTA5 or GTA4b) may make more use of the PS3s Blu-ray disks etc and not be able to be compatible with the 360.

Yeah thats pretty close: 1 colossal city (size of SA) 3 big cities (twice the size of LS) 10 towns (SF size) 25 villages (about the size of the disused airfield) The 3 big cities would all be fairly close to the colossal city (maybe apart from one), and in between that conurbation and the towns would be main roads, and in between the towns/villages would be different terrains and landscapes.

With collossal cities, they'll only have one centre (CBD) each. So really you'll only be going to a handful of places regularly, and occasionallly visiting the outskirts. With large cities (2x/3x the size of LS) there is plenty of opportunity to have everything in and there would be enough cities (say 5) to have loads of stuff different and enough contrast between them. If you had just one city (like a massive VC) there may not be enough opportunity to vary the city, there would just have to be districts, and then an endless countryside. What i'm thinking there should be is: One colossal SA-sized city, with a big pedestrianized high street with huge shopping centres, large residential districts, and sububial towns connected. A couple of LS-sized cities just outside of the main one, with normal conurbation facilities eg retail parks, cinemas etc. Then a few big towns way out of the city, with a few villages connected to the towns. Some features and scenery around, eg mountains and things. There would be plenty of countryside between the towns, and each corner of the map could have a different type of scenery, eg desert, forest, countryside, arctic, rainforest. Some islands in the sea (including one big one) would be fun as well.

I voted for 4 medium. I would have voted for three collossal or 4/5 large cities if the options had been there. I think big big cities with really different parts of it would be great. Just like Los Santos changes from part to part, and Las Venturas has some nice outskirts (the shopping centre etc), these big cities should have no clear edge. I think an out-of-town shopping centre, with big factory outlets, IKEA and everything like that would be a good addition.

At last the voices are heard. Good call, good call.

Vice City was the best game in terms of soundtrack and theme. Although the San Andreas features were obviously better and the area was significantly greater, the theme of the game just put me off completely.

If this is the great song i think it is, its great

"The cities are: London, San Andreas, Vice City and Liberty City!!!" "All four cities are in there!" Last time I checked, San Andreas was a State, not a City, made up of 3 cities. LC+VC+LS+SF+LV = 5 cities "Some thing else we know is that in snow there will be almost no control over the car" Great, so we have to wait for several hours before we can drive again. Fun. Also - they completely forgot to post the title of the game, I would have thought that would have been marginally relevant.

Its the "up" part of the dance, but if you look in the controls settings there should be a "special vehicle up" or something similar - its that.
-
When you first get into a Hydra, it seems and works like a helicopter. You have to use the set of extra controls that makes things go up and down - eg the tailgate of the andromeda, and possibly the dance/lowrider controls. Pressing the 'up' button (which i set to T) will tilt the jets under the wing and your plane will begin to fly forwards. Don't forget to lift up the landing gear (same button as starting side missions eg vigilante) otherwise it'll fly really slowly, although that can be useful when slowing down to hover or land.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, King. Its mainly stuff people have said but i'm glad you're backing the London idea - that seems to be the favourite. However i do like your idea about the disused underground stations, they have loads of potential.
-
Well it was and it wasnt - most people loved SA for its gameplay but not its storyline. My opinion is that's been done now, and should be left alone because many people, myself included, weren't too fond of the theme. I mean it was fine, and it worked, but i would rather be playing the business-style mafia themes than drugs and street crime. Possibly the story of an ordinary person (at the start) who gets involved in things that at first he doesn't understand. I've been waiting for GTA4 for a long time now, and I really think Rockstar could do something special. Six cities sounds about right, a bit bigger and more spread out would be good though.

To change the IP of a computer: 1) Go into network connections (in control panel) 2) Right click on the network connection you want, go into properties 3) in the box in the middle, scroll down to TCP/IP, then click properties 4) Manually configure the settings on the page The IPs that you're allowed depend on your router/switch settings, but try 192.168.1.5 and just change the last number if it doesnt work (try .60 or something). The mask setting will enter automatically (255.255.255.0) and the default gateway is the IP of your router/modem/switch (usually 192.168.1.1). For the DNS settings, choose the IP of the default gateway and one number above (eg 192.168.1.2). These should work if you plug the cable back in.

It is only illegal to download the gta_sa.exe file (the main executable), that way Rockstar prevents legal download of the game. But pretty much all the other files are free to manipulate.

I split these posts into a new topic. Crimson bought SA v2 for PC a few days ago, and is very pissed off about the lack of modding capability.

Big bump, yeah But he's just on about the windows command line. You can type a shutdown command and get it to display a message, and you can just save the command as a .bat file and get it to run. I don't think thats an amazing program or a virus of any kind. It is kinda cool though in its own little way...

I think i've cracked it. If you strecth back to the release of PS2 San Andreas (Oct/Nov 04) you might remember GTA Advance, the crappy GTA game for the Gameboy Advance - that was released just before the Nintendo DS came out (Nov 04) to kick the last life out of the GBA. I think they're doing the same thing with LCS, only with the PS2 - they're making this one of the last big releases for the PS2, then everyone will get a PS3 shortly after, making money for both Sony (PS2+PS3 sales) and Rockstar (LCS sales). A few weeks after LCS PS2, the PS3 will come out and make everything obsolete. LCS PS2 is just a quick fundraiser for Sony and Rockstar. No ports to 360 or PC, just something quick inbetween SA and GTA4.

Is it possible it isn't your work's network you're picking up? If its getting an 'excellent' signal that usually means you're standing right next to the transmitter. You would need to know the password to generate the WEP key (which in itself is just a long random password), and you would need to know which type of encoding is used (64- or 128-bit etc). If it IS your network (see if its named something familiar or if you can find the router with an arial and which computer it's connected to) then SOMEONE must have set it up. You should be able to find that person and ask them if you can access it (for work-related purposes, of course).
-
Well the chances are your work doesn't allow just anybody to walk up and use the internet. You'd have to speak to your IT guys and see if they'll let you connect, which they usually won't, because you would have access to the network and be able to do nasty things.
