  1. That's wierd...where did my post go?!?! Anyway, I was trying to say....CCTV - should it be used in-game? It would be kind of fun if an extra element you had to consider was that when you break into places like car dealerships, posh houses, or try an armed-robbery, something like that, with no disguise, that the cops are called immediately and arrive in a couple minutes, and that if you return to the scene of the crime, they recognise you and call the cops straight away. So say for example if I went into a kenf***y burger or whatever its called in the game and put my gun to the guy serving and got some cash, then the wanted level is on and cops would start to surround the building in a couple minutes, then i fled and came back say in 3 game-hours, as soon as i started to approach the desk the guy would be like "oh no! not you again!" and the cops would be automatically called and I couldn't be served there again for quite some time.
  2. Modding cars is a lot of fun, well at least the cars that are done properly and actually fit into the game right (for example I hate all those boy-racer cars with stupid wings everywhere and the like), I'll take mostly normal cars and replace their GTA counterparts so it all looks nice, like as though it'd been done by Rockstar. As for other mods, well extra map mods can be good (but sometimes stupid), and a few others are just a bit of realism. So I agree with modding when only the good mods are used that fit into the game, those sorts of "uber-fun" and jazzed up crazy mods can go f*** themselves, but that's me and the point of modding is you can make the game what you want. Modding before playing it? That means they just ain't interesting in the game, people should play and appreciate what Rockstar have created before tweaking it.
  3. Well how about.......a difficulty setting! So, the higher you set it, the more realistic it gets, the less setting, the more arcade it is? Also, does nobody else hate how unrealistic it is when you're shooting somebody? A shot to the chest kills. A shot to the stomach incapacitates and can kill, a shot to the arm means you can't use that arm, a shot to the leg means you can't run, etc etc.....I would love it if that was real....except for your character, who should be unrealistically tough because otherwise it would make the game stupidly difficult. Spazthegreat, I drive and have done so for many years, and I would love realistic driving in-game so you can relate to it a little better.
  4. Of course, in SA we can all change our clothes, grow facial hair magically, wear shades etc etc....so how about, changing clothes or hairstyle to an extent, gets rid of a wanted level?
  5. I think have car dealerships for different makes of cars. Then for each area you will have different classes. So for example in Portland you can only buy naffy cars and trucks/vans/lorries, then in the better areas you can buy infernuses and the like. Also, in the car dealerships you should be able to buy cars, steal cars (which would give you a wanted level and scratch the car if you drive it through the glass, and if you return to the dealership they call the police) and you can just buy the dealership if you want, then take any car you want.
  6. Tramp in a graveyard, still wearing a f*cked up suit that he didn't change since loosing his job, trying to dig up graves for unholy things.
  7. Well, it would just be more realism each time a game is made, which would take a long time to reach full realism if ever! I thought that was the point of GTA to be honest, that and the storylines.
  8. I don't see how important it is whether it's 2006/20007, there hasn't been that much change in a year and i don't think the game wil ever tell us
  9. I guess at the end of the day it's down to what Rockstar want....I wish there was a fully realistic game LIKE gta, and I was hoping gta would be the game to give the full level of realism one day.
  10. Because I'm sick of not being able to read through the other threads, you guys (and a little bit me) are arguing over the same thing on like 3 different threads, it's better we discuss realism here. Anyway, back onto what I was saying, firstly: - Is realism popular? Well.....I think The Sims proved to the world that gamers love realism, so I think it should be, what does everybody else think? secondly: - I play GTA FOR realism, not for some different experience to what can be done in real life, how about you guys?
  11. Guys, stop filling up the forums and post in the thread I made, PLEASE!
  12. This is a thread created specifically for the discussion of how realistic GTA IV should be.
  13. Ha, love that insurance idea! Little bits of realsim like that make everybody happier (except Spaz the great), but honestly Spaz, if they had made GTA as stupidly arcade as possible, it would be dull, it'd last like 5/10 minutes free-roaming before you got bored to death. The more realistic it is, the more you have to do, the more cool things to find, man, trust me, it's for the better! Do you really want to finish the game in a couple of days? Or would you rather it dragged on for months? Because I'd rather the months to be honest. Rockstar = realism. Leave the arcade bullshit to the other game makers. Also, he didn't mean YOU have to have an insurance policy, he said you SEE OTHER people exchanging insurance details when they crash, like have a cop car arrive as well and an ambulance, rather than seeing them just drive off which is pretty stupid. And the point of GTA is that you CAN drive a car, steal it, practise what you've always wanted to do, as real as posible, without actually having to be arrested in real life......and wouldn't cruising be a lot more fun if it actually reflected real life? Trust me, there'd be a far greater sense of achievement from winning a cop chase.
  14. Hahaha, does nobody remember CHiPs?!?!?! In almost every episode a car would turn upside down and they'd have to run away before it blows up! Ultra-reaslistic car damage would rule - yeah we all drive like idiots now at top speed hitting everything in our path, but that's only because you can get away with it! If they make it realistic, you'd just slow down, drive a little better - have none of you ever watched those "police chases" shows and wished you could have a go? Well that's what you'd be doing, because its rare they ever last that long and they only ever do when they aren't going quite that fast.
  15. Spaz, I know somebody in real life who has had that happen to them - you gotta get outta the way for a police siren, and if they crash, who do you think they are going to blame? I think traffic laws should be in place in the game, maybe not every single point I outlined, but some of them. It would greatly increase the challenge of the game, it might make for decent car chases, it would get your heart racing like Mafia did - Mafia is a superb reflection of driving in the real world, and I have always wanted more and more realism from GTA, that's why I like the series, that's why I played GTA1 when it came out, and absolutely loved it, and the same with GTA3 (GTA2 was ok) - I know some people want to play it I dunno, simpsons hit n run style or something but personally, I'd like at least the OPTION of having to attempt to drive properly and have DECENT car chases, that is, under the assumption that they get the AI a little better.
  16. People people, there's a limited number of sports and super cars that can be included in the game, rockstar have always gone for realism when creating cars for the game. However, what we should be hoping for, is a system where MOD cars will spawn just as much as the normal ones. The mod community is far better than rockstar at making cars, so all rockstar need to do is make a system that can support masses of mod cars that will replace the normal cars, actually spawn them, and basically leave decent vehicle-making to the professionals, the modders. Then we can all enjoy exactly the vehicles we want to drive. What would be particularly good is if they allowed us to transfer the physics configurations from other advanced games and import them into GTAIV, basically making it so we can have the decent realism for each car developed by true racing game developers. But anyway, all that is for when it comes out on PC. And ps3_player, if you are saying the driving is unrealistic, you are totally correct, GTA driving is incredibly arcade-style, driving for dummies really, it's far too easy but I think GTA IV is going to be a lot more realistic that way.
  17. Definetly an LCPR!!! Sports would be a good idea, I liked the sports bit on the radio in San Andreas, "the thing is, you've gotta score points to win the game" and "if you want to win....you've gotta go, for first place" lol,
  18. I think Tommy would come back to the NEXT GTA really, he's no reason to come back to Liberty City, but anyway, that's not the point of this thread, the point is, that do you want Donald Love back and why?
  19. I see no issue with allowing lights and indicators....well, indicators are a bit difficult to be honest, I didn't think they were of much use in Mafia, but I WOULD like to see other cars indicating. and switching your lights off could be a good idea for missions where you have to stalk cars, don't you think? As for road AI - the GTA3 series as I'll call it had some of the downright stupidest AI I've ever seen in a game, and if Rockstar don't improve it, well, shame on them! I'm sure they will though. A short list of discrepancies in AI to real-life behaviour - Nobody changes lanes THAT many times - Indicators - A siren does not mean the apocalypse is about to hit your car, slam on the accelerator and hit the nearest wall - Very few drivers will get road rage, and those that do, do not drive around your car in circles ramming it, regardless of whether you are in the car - Pedestrians do sometimes care if an accident has happened - Gunshots do not normally trigger "Nascar mode" in most cars, people would normally drive away from the gun shots, not ram the guy firing the shots in a desperate attempt to flee killing 7 pedestrians and taking out a lamppost - Lamposts are actually built into the ground, they don't just precariously balance there - Cars don't always set on fire after a heavy crash, they have been known to just stop working - A horn doesn't mean "pedestrians, run like hell and scream" - Where a road is blocked, drivers tend to try and get around it, not just sit there parping their horn - In most countries, the police do notice some of the following offenses: >Speeding >Running the lights >Running DOWN the traffic lights and lampposts >Running down at least one pedestrian >Causing a pileup >Driving on the pavement/sidewalk >Picking up a hooker >A suspect running from a car that has just caught fire >Driving the wrong way on an interstate >Driving the wrong way on a rail road, or indeed, on a rail road at all >Attempting a road block with several trailers, and standing there with a rocket launcher waiting for your victims to arrive I hope that list was pretty much complete!
  20. Definetly bring him back, he's a true hardcore capitalist, fits in perfectly. Maybe we will find him down and out sort of thing but instead of under a bridge maybe suspicously in a graveyard or something creepy like that?
  21. Wait wait...are you (Jace) saying that the xbox 360 elite will perform better and have better graphics becuase it has a bigger hard drive? What exactly is the difference? Thanks for clearing it up for me. And I seriously doubt a tiny little clip is going to take up much HDD....they could just make it so that an xbox without any HDD doesn't have instant replays and news reports. In all honesty tho, I think rockstar will fill the news reports with comical news, rockstar-style!
  22. Hahaha, very good novelesque writing, nothing more than fiction.
  23. Has there actually ever been a game with realistic car damage? Even GTR, probably the most advanced driving game on the planet, is unrealistic. You crash a car at 80/100 mph into a wall and you just get a little front-end damage and if you're really unlucky break the engine...but the car looks almost fine! I remember spending hours and hours trying to get Midtown Madness 2 to have realistic car damage, but it really is difficult unless they pre-programmed into the pyhsics with an advanced damage model. I suppose Havok 4 is the only engine properly capable. The thing is, most racing games don't include realistic damage, probably in some attempt to make the licencsed cars appear "really good". But GTA doesn't use any licensed vehicles, therefore they can, if technically able, have near-perfectly realistic car damage.
  24. In all honesty, can you really see a young guy becoming the big "don" of a gang? This protagonist is the most likely candidate to become a big-time don, moreso than any previous protagonist!
