  1. I don't actually think that GTAIV will require the ultimate specs. I mean, yes it does look awesome, but GTA has never been a computer-demanding game. I can run GTA:SA just fine on my Laptop, with specs: AMD Turion 64 1.8GHz 512MB RAM ATI Radeon XPRESS 200M 64MB Which I'm sure you'll agree, aren't exactly good specs. My only concern is if GTAIV HAS to be DirectX10 or not - I do not want to buy Vista, I like XP. But my guess it'll work fine with DirectX9.0c anyway - I've heard there is software out there that will allow directx10 games to work on XP. No, my guess is more like this Minimum: Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz 1GB RAM GeForce 7600 256MB 8 GB HDD Space WinXP/Vista Reccomended: Quad Core 2.6GHz 2GB RAM GeForce 7800GT 512MB
  2. Ha!! 15 thousand? I doubt it. I looked on ask.com, google, and nowhere does it actually state the number sold on PC. "I guess PCs can upgrade but still, ask any game designer and he/she will say that next-gen console are meeting the bench mark of any PC. And who cares about ~"RAMS"" - Are you actually serious? PCs have far better processors, they can have DUAL graphics cards, which basically means at the moment you could have two GeForce8800GTX cards with 768MB each, that's about 1.5GB of video memory, which is at least 3 times bigger than the PS3. But the proof that PCs out-benchmark the "nextgen consoles"? My PC can already run Oblivion in better graphics than the PS3 and X360 can, and, as Jace rightly said, I have a high-end PC, but it isn't even the best you could get. I'll be getting another GeForce7900GTX 512MB video card, to run in SLI with my current card, giving me 1GB video memory. I'll probably be able to run Oblivion in the highest graphics settings, something that the PS3 couldn't ever hope to do. So just quit it, PCs are always going to have better graphics. RAMS? Are you talking about sheep with horns? "These stats clearly states that the PC version sucks." - Alright, I'm gonna quote from this article: http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/action/grandthef...=summary;review "the PC version of Vice City does offer enhanced visuals and controls, improved loading times, and a few extra frills." - OK? Got it now? "If a PC is such an ultimate game machine, then why don't the same amount of people who own PS3s,XBOX 360s and Wiis own a PCs as well." - Because PCs are a lot more expensive. Jace, that's a good idea actually! Do I need a HDD for the XBOX360 to play GTA IV?
  3. They certainly are making profits on the release of GTA on ALL platforms. Jace, I agree.
  4. The sharpest things are the metal parts of the case - they rarely finish them properly. Metal splinters as well, man they suck. And there's the anti-static precautions you gotta take, not touching anything metal on the motherboard and cards or underneath of hard drive, getting the right jumpers on power, reset switches, etc etc - it's a learning curve, but so long as you got the money to buy your components again, then it should be fine. Just make sure you've got another computer with internet access so you can ask people when it all goes horribly wrong and you don't know how to fix it
  5. Yeah I'll have to agree with Spaz on this one - PCs are always better. As for games, the only reason they are delayed is because a) the console makers get exclusivity rights with the game makers so people HAVE to buy their console to play the game first and b)it's far easier to pirate PC games - no good for game maker's profits. GTA games, when released on PC, have higher graphics than on the console - even though a PC isn't fully dedicated as you say, the power in the high-spec ones still allows it to beat any console. Doesn't mean consoles are bad, just that PCs are better for graphics and like Spaz says any games where a mouse and keyboard are better (like RPGs).
  6. Best option is to find one cheap and ready made on eBay - they sell for almost nothing second hand, really ridiculous prices, you could pick up a core2duo system for well under £500 (US $1000). Building your own is always a bit more expensive - i would only build my own if I were going for a top-spec system (as i normally do), so I can choose each individual component myself, plus you always need contingency money incase you put in the wrong PSU, melt the CPU, and then scratch the motherboard to death trying to get the heatsink off the CPU (yes, I've done that before - a very expensive mistake!)
  7. Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Avast Antivirus, and ZoneAlarm - PC is always stable!
  8. Oh maybe! Good job I replaced the PSU as well then!
  9. Spaz - whoops, my mistake. But the PS3 does look better - the best check is the difference in the emperor's face (on the video) between the two, clearly a hell of a lot better on the PS3. It could never ever beat the graphics on a PC though, which is why I'm so annoyed they won't release GTA games on the PC simultaneously with console versions.
  10. DeATH, I agree with you on this one. You just press a button, the character himself crouches, searches like in the guy's wallet and takes the cash, real quick, just a nice little touch of realism. Spinning bundles of dollars that add upto $30 isn't really doing it for me.
  11. Spaz isn't the nicest of guys Just so you know: "solutionated" should be "solved" "hurted" should be "hurt" Don't worry I know what you were trying to say Silberio, but formatting the hard drive and reinstalling windows is really the last resort to getting rid of viruses. Good antivirus software, firewalling, and regular computer management of checking files in the startup and what is running in task manager should ensure your pc stays safe.
  12. The fix: - Go to: Start > Run - Type in msconfig - Press enter - Goto the Startup tab - Have a look down that list - you should see those two exe files - Uncheck the box next to them both, and anything else you don't recognise for that matter - Press OK and then 'Restart computer'. After that, they shouldn't come up. But make sure you download and install Avast (look on google), it's an antivirus software and should stop this sort of thing. For extra security, look for and install ZoneAlarm which is an advanced firewall and should keep all viruses/spyware/hackers/etc out. As a word of warning: ZoneAlarm will ask you before any attempt is made to connect to the internet, such as Internet Explorer or Avast antivirus / update, just so you know. Hope that helps
  13. OK - final update (for those of you whom this may help), the blue screens of death I was getting, was not indicating CPU overheating, but it was just the RAM all along that needed replacing!! Ah well, who would have known, eh?
  14. Spaz, trust me there is a difference. I think both versions of Oblivion use HDR lighting, but PS3 as far as I'm aware uses antialiasing as well, something the X360 can't do. Antialiasing makes a HUGE difference to graphics in any game. Of course neither console can beat a top-spec PC. Anyway, this guy explains it best: http://community.eu.playstation.com/showthread.php?t=79230 And this video (which I haven't watched yet) should help: http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=18049&type=wmv Of course, putting Oblivion aside, if you want the best GTAIV graphics, I'd go for a PS3 - purely because of the antialiasing.
  15. The selection of games varies a little between consoles, so it's more down to personal taste on that front. But PS3 has most games XBOX has, including Oblivion, and a lot of XBOX games are on the PC anyway so if you already have a PC. The PS3 does have better graphics, it has antialiasing which makes a big difference in games, and I've read it has better graphics for Oblivion, therefore if you want the best graphics, get a PS3, just make sure you find one cheap because the retail price is ridiculous!
  16. Jared, so lock it!! It's not really news and it's just turned into another "let's insult some kid because we think we're tough" stupid kind of thread.
  17. OGTAM, that video is pretty good, or rather, it would be good if he didn't stop it early. It doesn't make sense, sure you can understand it took him time to get his camera out and start, but clearly the "vessel" is still there, there's no reasonable reason to stop recording. Shame, because I would have liked to have believed that video.
  18. I see nothing wrong with a no police cheat and invincibility cheat After all....it's only realistic if you're expected to take on entire armies single-handedly!!! As for flying car cheats, I'd usually acceidentaly start one whilst using a trainer and ruin a mission I'm on by flying into the sea, that is a totally stupid cheat, and yes I agree with those saying it ruins the game, but I guess it's personal opinion.
  19. Mpilk, I agree. People, if you're going to criticise work, you have to show that you know what you're talking about. Unless you produce something better, you're just insulting someone without knowing anything (from our viewpoint). That picture was awesome, I've done photoshop for ages and I'd have never thought to do that, I still don't know if I could do that! The signs look very contemporary - as a piece of marketing, it would work....unless you're going to say you wouldn't stop and look at it in real life? Dazza - yes we all know they wouldn't allow it in real life, who cares? It's just a bit of fun
  20. Actually you can pick up a PS3 for about £350 on eBay nowadays (they retail at around £450), I think £350 is the same as the retail version of a decent X360. I'm going for a PS3, but I just wish they released it on PC at the same time, save me a lot of cash and my PC kicks any next-gen console ass!
  21. NO MONEY LIMITS. They already said, GTAIV will be hard, that means you ain't gonna make stupid money. period.
  22. tilly - CJ ran away from home, obviously did absolutely nothing of use in Liberty because he had no cash or even clothes when he showed up in SA! (or tenpenny might have taken his cash, i can't remember, either way, it wasn't much if that's his life's earnings), and although he was obviously in his mid-late twenties, he sounded and kinda acted like a teenager, i thought he was a bit annoying unfortunately. As for Roman, well I don't have a clue, that's why i said i'll trust R* (that's for you Silberio!), we won't know until some more storyline comes through. Until then, let's just say I wouldn't bet anything on it.
  23. Like I said in RP war thread, you're a poopoohead for lying but people should go easy on you really
  24. Something tells me that you won't get the luxury of lots of left-over cash in GTAIV. They said it themselves, it will be a real struggle getting anywhere in the game, in terms of power. And power=money in NYC. What money you do manage to scrape together (I have a feeling the cash system is going to be realistic for once), you might buy some property or guns etc etc, but I don't think you'll have 35mil in your pocket like you did in SA. As for the idea of upgrading your house - i like it. sort of like oblivion, but more in-depth. Although I can't picture shopping for curtains and stuff lol, they need to be careful if they include it in the game. Also, property in NYC in real life is stupidly expensive, I hope it's realistic in the game in that respect.
  25. Wu-zi-Mu, have ever seen an action film? There are plenty of examples of bad guys with guns chasing people up mountainsides and the like, watch a bond movie as well! It could be a great feature, and I'm over the moon they've included climbing. And lol, climbing up lamposts sounds so much fun!
