You'll most likley be able to play LESS PSOne/PS2 games when this update happens. This only effects NEW PS3's, not old one. Your PS3 already has the Emotion Chip, so it already plays old games. The new PS3 will NOT have this Emotion Chip, and will have backwards compatibility through emulation (like the Xbox 360), so I think the new ones will play less old games. Not like it matters though, you can already play the good ones and that won't change for sure. (BTW, I'm quite positive on this, but not 100% sure. So you might want to double check this stuff.) It's 1.9 (Obviously) and here is the list of the current new features: * Ability to rearrange games on the XMB - W00t * Option menu now includes "eject disc" * Press triangle on the XMB to eject the disc - Great! * XMB backgrounds - Finally! * Change the folder classification * Emoticons * Change CD output to 44.1/88.2/176.4kHz * Force 24Hz output for Blu-ray over HDMI * Change PS3 video settings in-game * "Bit Mapping" in the "Music Setting" * Save AVCHD type animations from a Memory Stick * Change settings like upscaling while playing PS and PS2 games * Add bookmarks * Web browser security function in the browser's tool section * Avatar moves during audio visual chat There is still more features but this is the confirmed ones. Also now I don't even have to touch my PS3 now that theres a Eject disc feature Would it be ok if I use your confirmed list on the front page of this topic? I'll have a little news section and a "Current Firmware" section with a list of the updates. I'm thinking of having a news team for this topic if you're interested. I didn't get mine! Because I live in the middle east. Wouldn't it be easier to just put it in the box? (Sorry I'm replying to an old post but hey I'm pissed) Anyway moving on... I can't get hooked up to the internet on my PS3 because I took it with me to Australia and it's in a hotel (Geeky I know) so yeh I haven't updated the firmware in ages... Oh and hey whats emulation?
