I think some leaked images of the PS3 version showed that the covers above were of the big box everything comes in, you slide it out and it contains all your goodies and what looks like the normal version of the game packed inside too. You may want to check that out though.

During the last few days there have been an abundance of GTA IV articles being posted online by major gaming websites. We’ve compiled a list of some of the better reads, so be sure to check out whatever fancies your interests. Below is a list of said articles and a short description on what you’ll find: PSW (PlayStation World) Magazine has reviewed Grand Theft Auto IV, giving the game a 10/10. A highlight from their 10 page review, “A masterpiece from both a technical and storyline standpoint. You have not and probably never will play another game quite like it again.” 1UP.com had a preview of GTA IV’s Euphoria and how it works, the article also contained 8 new screenshots. It can be read here. 1UP.com featured another article on GTA IV’s RAGE engine and its capabilities. It can be read here. GameSpot.com had a Q&A on GTA IV’s weapons, cover, and combat systems. It can be read here. IGN.com posted an article on “how to talk dirty and influence people,” earlier today, which can be read here. IGN.com posted an article on the challenges that occurred in the making of the game, titled “GTA IV: The Power Broker.” It can be here. Lastly, Amazon.com has posted the boxarts for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 special editions of GTA IV. They’re different from the normal game, and even different from each other. The Xbox 360 version features the famous Niko artwork we’ve seen (with a bridge in the background), while the PlayStation 3 version shows off another popular artwork of a lady and a lollipop (with the Statue of Happiness in the background). The boxes are longer than your normal video game box (because they most likely contain all of the special edition goods inside of them). You can see both below:

Well actually, those topics in general gaming are for discussion of the console and its games, you can also post your gamertag in it if you want... these topics are dedicated to posting gamertags to members can easily find other members to play against ...When was the last time you looked at the PlayStation 3 topic? I've been putting member's PSN IDs in the topic since early 07'. OGTAM, that topic is 44 pages long and is cluttered with stuff other than PSN IDs. This topic is just for people to quickly run through some posts and find names without having to scroll down for a minute because someone decided to post 50 HD pictures of some racing game. Besides, this topic is convenient.

I've never heard of a store running out of a copy of a game. Best Buy has always had every game I've wanted on launch day no matter what -- Gears of War, Halo 2, Halo 3, etc. Store get way to many copies to sell out, the demand isn't the same as for consoles. Every store will have plenty of copies.

Two more publications have reviewed the next installment of Grand Theft Auto, (which is only a week away from release), both of which have given the game amazing and near-perfect scores. First up was the U.S. version of Official Xbox Magazine (OXM), the review was obviously favorable. The final verdict was a 9.5/10. Their conclusion: + Wounderful environment with gajillions of great things to do. + Multiplayer is a deep, terrific addition to the series. - Would be even better with a little editing: it starts slowly, has a few too many “filler” missions. Xbox World 360 (U.K.) scored the game a 98%/100%, which is said to be their highest score ever given. Their conclusion: + Oscar-worthy dialogue + unfeasibly rich game world + inspired mission design Both reviews have quite a few mission and story details, and even include achievement details, Easter-egg details, and more. Be sure to check them out whenever you see them at your local shop. In other related news, pictures of the special edition packaging of the game have surfaced. They appear to be from an Australian store, those can be found here. Lastly, it appears an ad for GTA IV which was featured on Chicago’s buses has been removed. The official report from Fox News can be found here. Reasoning behind the ad being taken down was due to it being “violent.” You can discuss the ad and more, in our forums.

Don't expect to get it on the 24th, I REALLY doubt that'd happen. Possibly the 28th at the earliest as Amazon sometimes sends things out slightly early, but no way would Rockstar, Microsoft, or Sony allow it to be out five days early.

The Rockstar Social Club website now displays an image saying, “Pre-Registration Begins 4.17.08,” two days later than what we were told on March 27 (registration was officially set to start on April 15). We are unaware of exactly what caused the sudden, short delay, but we’ll keep you posted!

Light sounds like a 12-year-old going through puberty, or you could say, he sounds like every single other anime character ever. Its horrible. Hes supposed to sound like the smartest student in Japan, not your "average high school student, with an anything-but-average life!" > L's voice is so-so I thought, if they could have had the same quality for Light's it wouldn't have been to bad I guess. (I was talking about voice acting BTW, not what the characters act like...)
-
I knew about it long before it even finished its original run in Japan. Then it came to Adult Swim, and fuck. ;_; Light sounds horrible, seriously what the fuck were they thinking. ;_;

What version of the game are you buying? PS3 or Xbox 360? If you're buying the PS3 version, since its on a Blu-ray Disc, then a UK version (Blu-ray Disc Region will work on an Australian PS3. Below is the chart of region coding for BDs: Orange: Region A Green: Region B Purple: Region C Or if this helps: A: Americas; East and Southeast Asia. B: Africa, Europe, Oceania; Middle East; French territories; Greenland. C: Central and South Asia; Mongolia, Russia, and People's Republic of China. (Took it from Wikipedia BTW.) If you're buying a 360 version, then I dunno.

The latest issues of Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) and Official PlayStation Magazine (OPM, U.S.) both feature brand new previews and screenshots of GTA IV. EGM received a preview of GTA IV’s multiplayer features, while it is unaware of what OPM got their hands on as of now. EGM’s preview was four-pages long and contained three new screenshots, none of which are multiplayer ones, and none of which have appeared online (yet). To anyone with the magazine, be sure to send TGTAP your magazine scans of the new screens! OPM’s preview also contained three new screenshots, which have appeared online in the form of scans (obviously not the best quality). They feature Niko being chased by the cops, running in his casual suit, and shooting someone or thing in a toilet. You can view the screenshots below: Thanks to Chargr for the screenshot scans!

Gaming website Kotaku recently received a hands-on preview of GTA IV. The article features no new information, however is a good read as it sums up a ton of interesting features GTA IV has to offer. You can read it here. In other GTA IV-related news, gaming blog Destructoid also had a hands-on preview of the title, and will be posting their impressions in the coming week. Look out for that one, although it’ll most likely be similar to the above Kotaku preview, offering us no new details. Check back to TGTAP for information on all previews, reviews, and anything else related to GTA IV as we come closer and closer to the game’s late April release!

You could start by telling us what games you already have...

Kind of old news, I'm surprised a lot of you didn't hear about that. (I never downloaded it, is it good?)

GTA IV Trailer 4: Good Lord, What Are You Doing?
MishoM replied to PJ-34's topic in GTA IV Discussion + Help
Please keep your discussion regarding the fourth GTA IV trailer in this topic. We do not need another topic for this. Closed. -
Nearly a week ago TGTAP reported that the press had received one of 500 limited edition GTA IV Xbox 360s. Well today it appears one of said 360s found its way onto eBay! With a “Buy It Now!” price of $700, you get the limited edition Xbox 360, the briefcase filled with accessories, 12 months of Xbox Live, and 1,600 Microsoft Points. The Xbox 360 Elite system is number 92 out of the 500 produced. Neither I, nor TGTAP know if this auction is authentic or not, so buyers beware. Regardless, hopefully a fan does get their hands on it and shares us some pictures of it in action! The auction can be found here. Thanks Original GTA Master!

Yahoo! Games has a new article up today giving us five reasons (as if we need five) to buy GTA IV. It gives a good overview of the newly announced Amazon MP3 deal, GTA IV’s graphics, and the multiplayer features. Yahoo! notes that you’ll be able to “request an ambulance for an injured citizen,” and that “any weapon in the game can be fired while behind the wheel!” You can read the article in full here. However I doubt anyone reading this needs any more reasons to pick up GTA IV on April 29!

It'll most likely be for more than just GTA IV I'd imagine.

To coincide the release of Rockstar Games’ GTA IV, they’ll also be opening up a site called Rockstar Social Club on the very same day. Rockstar Social Club will allow you to view your online statistics, have performance-based competitions, and awards all on the site. Registration begins on April 15 using your Xbox Live Gamertag or PSN ID (they’re starting registration early so we don’t all register on the day GTA IV’s released). Below are a few details: “LCPD Police Blotter -- A virtual map and tracker of single-player criminal activity logged in Liberty City from the aggregated data of millions of connected players - showing the most dangerous areas of town, most commonly used weapons and more.” “The Story Gang -- This special single-player leaderboard recognizes players who complete Niko Bellic’s main story arc of Grand Theft Auto IV - The leaderboard ranks players according to the total amount of playing time it’s taken to complete the story, as well as a historical rank by who has completed it first. Members of this club will receive special online widgets and merit badges marking all of their in-game accomplishments.” “The 100% Club -- Watch to see who will be the first to complete 100% of the game. The first ten people to be identified on the Social Club as reaching 100% will be sent an ultra-rare commemorative ‘key to the city’ to mark their accomplishment. In the future, the 100% Club will then carry a historical leaderboard showing rankings of who has completed 100% of a game in the shortest span of playing hours.” “The Hall of Fame -- This area will dynamically recognize those singularly elite players who have reached the top of the hill on various statistical leaderboards, and will also contain a personal awards display of special in-game landmarks and successes in Social Club competitions.” “The Liberty City Marathon -- A ranking of special physical milestones achieved in the game - from the amount of miles walked, driven, or swam - to the number of bullets fired and stunt-jumps jumped. There will be additional special marathon-based competitions in the future from this area as well.” Special competitions, leaderboards and challenges will be given “regularly in the weeks and months following the game’s release.”

Just a heads-up, the fourth GTA IV trailer titled “‘Good lord, what are you doing?’ AKA ‘Everyone’s a rat’” will be released tonight at 10PM GMT, or 6PM EST. You’ll find the trailer on Rockstar’s official GTA IV site, and shortly after on the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store (just as the previous ones). CVG reports saying it’ll be the final trailer before the worldwide release of the game on April 29th, 2008, so we have no idea of what to expect from Rockstar! As always, TheGTAPlace will keep you posted, and once its released, we’ll have it up for your viewing pleasure (if you don’t want to attempt to get into Rockstar’s website which will obviously be hammered).
