  1. They don't have much info on the planet at all. They haven't even seen it - it doesn't shine on its own from this far away, and their sun is so bright it covers up what we might see if that planet was on its own. They have detected it by looking at their sun, and seeing how it wobbles from side to side when planets are orbiting it. From this they can calculate the size of the planet and its distance away from the star - and because they know the size of that star, they can judge how hot it will be where the planet is. So they've figured out that there is a planet a bit bigger than Earth the right distance away from that star for water to be liquid - which massively increases the chances for life (as we know it).
  2. Whoops - sorry for not replying. Yeah that is fine to do in most situations - if you download a mod for the Washington, you can just change the word "Washington" to "Admiral" and install it in the Admiral's slot instead. But if you try to copy a car that is very different (eg the Washington into the Coach slot) it won't fit right, because of the collision files (everything will still bump into the Coach, and the shadow will be the length of the coach, even though you can only see the Washington), but if you copy the col files (using a col editor) you can avoid that. However there are exceptions - planes, boats and bikes are all different to cars, so there would probably be some problems trying to make a car into a boat. Also, there is a certain number of cars/bikes/planes/boats, so you can't turn the washington into a plane just by copying the handling or anything. Likewise with sirens (flashing lights on emergency vehicles) - this can't be copied from one car to another - it is built in so that only the copcars/ambul/fire/swat/fbi/army vehicles can do that.
  3. Yeah, they're real SA80s - me having just spent half an hour taking them apart and cleaning them

  4. Do you not understand? It isn't working... it hasn't worked for ages... it will be fixed when IB Store gets updated (as in finished). That isn't yet, and it isn't Chris who makes it, so don't complain here.
  5. WOULD IT BE COOL IF YOU DIDNT TYPE IN CAPITALS ALL THE TIME I'm sure you could mod the PC version to replace the lowrider cars with a truck or something.
  6. You open american.gxt with the GXT editor. You pick the main category from the list on the left (there are loads, but most are in just one main category). Scroll down in the next list to find the car name. You then edit that and save it. Don't forget to make sure that american.gxt is not read-only. I recall there is a problem with the GXT editor - a button that doesn't work or something - but that is all talked about in the readme file that comes with it.
  7. how do i load it on my game all it does is bring up my saved game!! You put the saved game file into that folder (in My Documents) and then you start up San Andreas and load it. Whatever number is in the name of the saved game file is the slot it shows up as in the game. So GTASAsf1.b comes up in the first slot, GTASAsf8.b shows up in the last slot. Simple.
  8. Most of the icons are self-explanatory (envelope for sending a message), and if they aren't you can usually hover your mouse over them to get a quick descrption. The entire idea of an icon is that it explains something without using text. Are there any particular icons you're having trouble understanding?
  9. You don't have to impress them ALL.. just if some of them say "No not him, he's a noob" then the staff will have second thoughts. The past is the past - there are a lot of people that used to be n00bs but have learnt to behave and mature. If those people later become helpful and don't make random posts or get into fights, then they could still become elites.
  10. Also remember that this is a decision made by all the elites and staff together. It isn't just anybody who impresses Chris, it's got to be someone who impresses everyone. Quality not Quantity
  11. There's nothing preventing people with warnings from becoming elite, but remember that becoming elite is nothing to do with your post count. There is no "right" for all active members to eventually become elite. Only those people who have really tried hard to be mature, helpful and really fun around the forums will be picked.
  12. Make sure that all the files you edit are not read-only. Right click on them, click properties and UNtick "read only". Then you will be able to save over them.
  13. I use the car spawner built into the GTA SA Control Center - this also allows you to edit pretty much everything, like your health/armour, weapons/ammo/skill, vehicle speed/colour etc, it can also teleport you to other places and you can create shortcuts for use ingame (like I have a button that speeds my car up a bit, if I need to get away fast or just can't be bothered waiting).
  14. Increased PM Storage Increased post attachment storage Ability to delete their own topics/posts Ability to remove the 'Edited by' line when editing a post Ability to avoid flood control on searching and posting Can change display name twice per month instead of just once Access to the Elite Members forum - which contains a more mature level of discussion and topics of a more... sensitive nature
  15. Here is the original logo.mpg: Let me know when you've downloaded it so I can remove it.
  16. If you bought your copy of San Andreas recently (past year or so) then it will be version 2. You cannot mod version 2 of San Andreas. You need to downgrade to Version 1 to be able to do that.
  17. *sigh* GreenIsland.zip Let me know when you've downloaded it so I can remove it.
  18. Do you mean you want to install one mod onto two cars? Or do you want to copy one car to be another car as well? Either way, its the same. Just copy the A.txd and A.dff to B.txd and B.dff - you must make sure you still have one of each for every car. Do the same with the handling.cfg lines, vehicles.ide, carcols.dat (and the collision files if you really want). So either install the mod twice (under two different names) or copy the A car and install it into B.
  19. Most mods simply provide you with a main.scm to use - you can't install two yourself. You would have to edit the script files yourself to incorporate both mods. This is partially because they may be incompatible with each other - you can't have two lots of missions or anything. Your best bet is to look for the mod which has most of the things you want, or find someone with the time and skill to put two of the mods together.
  20. We have a big San Andreas Modding Guide pinned in this subforum to answer that question. If there is something you still can't do, let us know.
  21. I presume this is still happening now, not just "a while ago"? Can you visit the image directly?
  22. The decisions are being made in the Elite forum at the moment - this is not public to other members. Once the decisions have been made, they will be announced here.
  23. How could it not be an error? Apart from the fact that GTA 4 and GTA5 are not out (so why GTA 6) and why would it have exactly the same logo as GTA 4? Read the text that says "GTA IV" on top of the logo. Kind of a clue that it means GTA IV. It may be some kind of a joke, overlooked by people not paying attention. OR it might just be a genuine error. No alternatives.
  24. ActiveX isn't something you uninstall - its just something that lets websites interact with your computer. When you go to the Windows Update website, that uses ActiveX to scan your computer. If you have Internet Explorer 7 (the new one) it doesn't let sites do anything unless you specifically let them by clicking on the flashing yellow bar at the top of the screen. With IE6, you can still edit the security settings yourself. Firefox can't use ActiveX at all.
