*agrees with spaz* "Bootlegging" is more mass-production of games and DVDs. Its usually traceable back to big gangs and stuff, even if you buy em from someones brother or whatever. Downloading a song once in a while (that you would not have otherwise bought) could be overlooked. Downloading a game you already own (eg if the disk broke) is okay, but usually the people that say that don't own the game in the first place. Downloading a GTA game or a decent film, however, shows a total lack of respect for any of the hundreds of people involved. Do the right thing.

I have downloaded things illegally in the past - just a handful of songs, nothing big. However, I now buy everything legally, for a number of reasons: 1) Its easier - no hassle or stress 2) You get stuff with it, like an actual disk or case or manual or map etc 3) You get a warranty and tech support and whatnot 4) It wont make the company go out of business - if nobody paid for GTA then why should they make them? 5) Its legal - I need to be entirely legal for a number of reasons In reponse to "why should you pay when you can get it for free", its a moral issue really. The good guys who do pay are actually paying for the bad guys that don't pay - yet we're gonna keep on paying. Thanks for not spamming/arguing here, but I remind you that it is against forum policy to encourage or facilitate the illegal downloading of any software, GTA games in particular. You can discuss whether you do it or not, but don't discuss how to do it.

If you only have the install disk, then you won't have sound. I had this problem when I used a friend's GTA3 disk a few years ago. If there is a problem with the disk, take it back to the store you bought it from. If you want the game for free, think up a good reason why you shouldn't have to pay for the game but we should, and also think what would happen if nobody paid for games.

We use display names on top of usernames not just because usernames cannot be changed easily, but usernames are half of what is required to log into someone elses account - if you can't find their username then you can't login. Of course this isnt as secret as your password, and it could probably be found out without too much trouble, but its just an extra layer of security for each individual user. Still, there's nothing wrong with giving your username out or putting in your sig though. Would be best to change the store to use display names though.

This is entirely illegal, and is also entirely against the forum rules. We have all spent our money buying it, so why shouldn't you have to? Why should you get it for free? Its people like you that want everything for free that make these companies go out of business. If everybody got GTASA without paying for it, there would be no more GTA games. Simple. Yeah Apple sent it to me (for free) to review for a month, and its due back this week. They came to collect it when I was at college today, and I left it with my neighbours today who decided to just go out for a couple of hours... when they came again.

I recently received an iPod from Apple to review for my site. It is due to be sent back tomorrow, and I'm thinking of putting something humourous on it as a little gift to Apple. Perhaps I could change the name of the songs to "Windows pwns OSX" or put "Bill Gates's iPod". Anybody got any decent suggestions?

That's strange - could be caused by a number of things. Question 1 is: Have you installed any new software or hardware (including drivers) recently? Even small things can sometimes cause your system to break. Next time the screen comes up, choose "safe mode" (a cut-down version of windows used for fixing problems like this). Uninstall whatever you have installed over the past few days and unplug any new hardware devices - then try again. If that doesn't work, start up in safe mode again and when it pops up a message about system restore, choose "yes" and revert your PC back to the state it was in a day or two ago (or longer if you have no choice). That should fix it. If none of that works, it probably means something has corrupted your Windows installation, whether accidentally or maliciously. If you own a Windows CD then you can put that in, reboot, boot from CD and choose "repair" which will fix pretty much anything. You could reinstall Windows from scratch, but that would lose all your programs and settings (but your documents would stay).
