Jared
The internet is flooded today with news of a second rating of Grand Theft Auto IV, this time by PEGI. The game received an 18+ rating, stating it contains Violence and Swearing. The rating records are not yet available on PEGI.info (the official website of the group) for an yet unknown reason However PlayStation's UK website contains the rating and information. ESRB and the BBFC are the next expected to rate the game, however with the current battles between the BBFC and Rockstar I wouldn't be expecting a terrific outcome. http://www.rockstarwatch.net/news/219/gran...s-18-from-pegi/
Wheelman101
damnit, fuck hope the rating wont go higher like Rated A
azn
Well, it doesn't matter how high the put the ratings I'm still getting GTAIV! But 18+, dam there must be some pretty realistic violence in RAGE powered games...
Jared
Well don't take the "18+" as being generally bad. The rating under that is 16+, which wouldn't really fit the game I don't think since it is adult oriented. 18+ is rather equal to Australia's MA15+ rating that the game received the other week. So I can't see it being bad, in fact I can see the game being released everywhere just fine.
GTA Don
I knew it was going to be 18+,I said it in another topic,I think it was Dazza`s boxart that he made for Austrailia.
azn
Well yeah what do you expect when it comes to Grand theft Auto? And like I said somewhere else on TGTAP, the violence in GTA is too cartoon-ish to scare or horrify people this game isn't Manhunt or anything but either way the rating seems reasonable. My mum actually laughed when she saw me slice someone's head off with a Katana and all the blood just started spilling out of the body with no head
GTA Don
Weird lol.
TM™
It's been 18+ here in the UK, and it really doesn't matter, as long as it stays off being an AO, then I feel this is completely fine since most of the games are 18+ in the UK. MarkD1990
I expected a 18+ rating from PEGI, and I am expecting a 18+ from ESRB and BBFC too. But I can honestly say I don't think GTA IV will have any trouble being released like ManHunt did. And XBOX 360 UK site has got the 18+ on the GTA IV page now aswell. http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/games/g/grandtheftautoiv/ Edited January 13, 2008 by mark866
Red_91
Never really expected anything but an 18+ from the UK ratings, most violent games are 18+ plus, I'll just get my brother to get me it since I am only 16.
azn
I'm 14 on the 18th and I can get GTAIV no matter what, so the rating's don't make much of a difference in my house
Connor
That's nice, this might mean GTAIV is coming soon.
azn
We can only hope that, there STILL aren't any game play videos let alone screenies for us to see so anyone's guess could be a possibility.
DeAtH
I don't care about ratings. I played 18+ games whole life and that done no harm to me. And in Estonia you can buy 18+ game when your a little kid, nobody cares.
SuperSpud
No surprise that it is an 18+. I'm 14 but I'm still getting it

Gycu
I was hoping for an 3+ rating srsly this was to be expected ...
Dazza
Woah, good luck getting it guys. On the 29th, I turn 15, meaing I can get the game whenever I get the money to buy a X360 or PS3 . But least I can get it LEGALLY! lol
Urbanoutlaw
I'm not too worried what rating GTA4 gets, most of MY KIDS are over 18 (they can get their own). Agree w/ Connor, another rating means it's probably that much closer to release.
MarkD1990
i turn 18 on march 1st and I already have the money to buy already £69.99 But I can get it legaly also
Urbanoutlaw
HOLY CRAP! I think that translates to over $100 (US), where are you getting it? Release price for most next gen games is right around $60 & I think I saw the premium pack for $90 just before the original release date got pushed back. Kitsune Inferno
I expected a 18+ rating from PEGI, and I am expecting a 18+ from ESRB and BBFC too.But I can honestly say I don't think GTA IV will have any trouble being released like ManHunt did. And XBOX 360 UK site has got the 18+ on the GTA IV page now aswell. http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/games/g/grandtheftautoiv/ An 18+ rating from the ESRB means Adults Only, meaning people can't buy it. Sony doesn't allow AO games on the PS3 and I'm guessing neither does Microsoft. Of course, GTA IV will receive a Mature (17+) rating from the ESRB. I'm still gonna get it, and I don't think the clerks at my local Walmart give two shits if a 16 year old is buying an M-rated game.
Urbanoutlaw
I know 40-year olds who aren't "mature" enough to play 17+ games. If your parents did their job, 15 or 16 should be no problem. In some cases a 12 or 13 year old is mature enough to handle playing GTA unsupervised.
Connor
Well, I started playing GTA when I was around 4, and I turned out...Oh crap...Bad example. Edited January 13, 2008 by Psycho Connor
Thomas.
Yeah I played GTA when I was around 4 too. I was mature enough to Grand Theft Auto a few cars in GTA Games.
