†Ĵасқ•×•Āѕніяамі†
I wanted to know why can't we use swimming abilities in other GTA games other than GTASA.Are the waters poisonous or somethin' or they don't know to swim.
Hansui
because R* just don't want you to cross it and explore the other places/islands without doing the missions
Connor
Probably because they couldn't or didn't want to add it into those games.
Urbanoutlaw
Swimming could have been added any time, it's pretty easy when you're putting the game together. R* just wanted to keep you out of the rest of the map until they thought you were ready for it. Enough people wanted swimming so they finally included it in SA, but used a 4* warrant for the same purpose. Imagine how easy the early missions would have been w/ the rocket launcher or sniper rifle. Oh wait, I did that (PC version, data mod).
GTA Don
You`re evil! I kinda thought "WTF! No swimming in LCS,noooo!",LCS was good but it would`ve been a teensy bit better if they had featured swimming.
Thomas.
Remember Liberty City waters are Toxic and there is a long wire preventing you to get from Staunton Island to Shoreside Vale.

Airashii
Already highlighted above really. Swimming is soo overrated though. I never bothered much after I unlocked all the islands in SA. Still want it in GTAIV. It would feel a bit 'backwards' without it.
Thomas.
Maybe they should make swimming a bit more difficult in GTA IV. Depends if they include it in this Liberty City.
GTA Don
Imagine if you had to learn how to swim in GTA IV.
Thomas.
Thats what it should be like.
MrLlamaLlama
^ Really? It would suck. There's a fine line between realism, and so much realism that it completely ruins the gaming experience. Learning to swim crosses that line, rubs it out, and pisses on the patch where the line was. Grand theft auto, not 'Grand build life skills'
niko bellend
Well they could do somethin like that, like with the driving and bike skills, why not swimming skills?
†Ĵасқ•×•Āѕніяамі†
So, Can't we swim in GTA IV.
Ivan
So, Can't we swim in GTA IV. Is that a question or what?
Urbanoutlaw
I think R* had the best idea in SA. You can swim no prob, but had to build your lungs up for any extended underwater swimming. That makes sense & keeps it relatively simple.
Charger
So, Can't we swim in GTA IV. Yes we can swim in GTA IV, swimming is really needed, when you loose control of your car and end up in the water.
Mendoza
maybe there should be your char gets tired and you just kinda sink so you can't get to other islands
NotYouHaha
I think another reason why you couldn't swim in GTA3,VC, & LCS is that in even when there's swimming in VCS and SA, it wasn't easily to get back on land, and docks and etc were hard to find, especially on the right middle shoreline of VCS and along some rivers north of Los Santos in SA, so IMO, swimming REALLY sucked. I hate being stranded in the water, and in VCS you couldn't commit suicide in anyway in water to get transported to the nearest hospital. Besides, when cops were in the water, why couldn't they swim?
