Things i dislike about GTA4

Well first I do love gta.. Not trying to bash it at all.

But there are things that in the PC version really bugs me at times.

The camera.. Why the heck cant it be attacked to stay in the same place ? I constantly have to click and release the Caps button to set the camera behind my chars when doing corners and such.

Its really anoying that its often impossible to get a taxi. I figured id call for one (i belive its 411 in usa) but i cant actually make the phone dial up. I cant dial 911 either.

It also really lacks the good old gta feeling like in Vice City and even San Andreas. It lacks alot of the humor too. But the game is great. Good missions not impossible nor too easy.

I could have done with more humor in the game.

Whats with the "hot coffee" part of the game ? sure you dont SEE anything but it sounds like the girlfriends are overwhelmed with Niko speaking "Oh Niko. Tell me MORE!.." It just sounds wierd that she moans for Niko to .. SPEAK ??

Just my two cents.. Great game. Im not halfway yet but am about to move for the second time i think.. Love the story so far..

Oh yeah.. most cars including bikes are sliding waay too much. its like there is a constant rain in Liberty City.. a bit more grip would be nice on the tires..

I love this game too, except the glitches, and the freezing. I'm still trying to find a fix. But I'm glad to hear it's something you haven't experienced because it is SOO frustrating.

I havent had anything really bad. Though laggy game but im playing on a laptop for gaming but not that highend.. sadly..

I LOVE the new camera and driving system. And have you seen the finale of the game yet? Probably one of, if not THE, greatest game storyline ever. Even better than VC and SA, and they had great story lines too.

I LOVE the new camera

While it's debatable whether or not the story line and driving system in IV is better than SA, this statement is just wrong. Unless you use the mouse to move the camera (which I do now, because I hated the default camera so much) it's absolutely terrible. If you take a tight corner without hitting the look back button, or moving the mouse, the camera stays looking at the front of the car for about 5 minutes before it finally moves back behind the car, by which time you've already crashed. It's even worse when you're trying to fly a helicopter. You can't manually move the camera with the mouse, and you can't see where you're going when you're flying the anihilator. The only good thing about the new camera, is that I've learned to control it with the mouse, while I drive with my left hand.

The problem with the camera is mainly the control of it while driving..

I dont know if its bad on consoles where you have everything in two hands reach but at least how i plays it and how it was in VC and SA i had WSAD and mouse for on foot. Then the arrow keys for driving (with my right hand) and that sorta rules out the mouse for controlling the camera. Thats very inconvenient. If at least the camera could lock to allign with the car and turn if you cant see the front end of the camera (other games have that feature) it would be alot easier..

Except that its quite good so far. And no i havent finished the game yet. Dont have a console and ive always prefered to play games on PC anyway but im looking forward to see the end of the story..

Btw.. isnt the gta 4 like current time or somthing ?

I wonder what the Gta5 will be about..

Grand Theft Auto IV changed the way the series was directed imo. The realistic thing about it made it feel like you were actually playing as a immigrant trying to make it in the American Society. The Controls and camera (at first) are hard to navigate with... This jumping from one Era to another though... So it's good that Rockstar did change a bit of the things, but in that process they did remove the freshness of the "Grand Theft Auto" we all know and loved. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has that cartoony feel and the humor is something that kept you playing for hours non stop. It was (And probably still is) one of the best games created in it's Generation. As all good things are bound to be replaced sooner or later, Grand Theft Auto: IV took the plate, it did well.. But it isn't a remarkable change like Vice City - To - San Andreas. The Storyline in GTAIV is really interesting to me (I enjoy that immigrant lifestyle and what not)... San Andreas Storyline was amazing; don't get me wrong.. Sadly, San Andreas Storyline also jumped a bit off course after a while. What I am saying is -- It started at a Ghetto "Compton" like location... Then in the wilderness, then in a suburban like city, than in a Real classy "Las Vegas" style? The mission flow did change real randomly as well, from robbing a Pizza Joint with your homie Ryder, to robbing casinos with armed Triads. Grand Theft Auto IV's storyline did jump off a bit as well, but it seemed to keep it a bit smoother than San Andreas (San Andreas was longer? I think so, so it was probably harder to keep it that smooth at the time.) Overall, Grand Theft Auto IV is a really great game, during, and after the storyline... Then again -- It isn't a San Andreas, nor will it ever be.

Thanks for your view on this.

I dont have time to play that often but this gta makes me enjoy the storyline and feeling a bit like SA. And the missions arent bad. Lots of the humor is indeed lost. And the travels can get quite tedious. Thank god for taxi rides.

I was wondering.. there are times where you have to make certain choises.

Like when you have to put a cap in either Dwayn or Playboy X's

but im not sure how they affect the game. Is there a chance to see how things would evolve if chosen otherwise or do it just affects the kind of missions you get to do ?

Greatest storyline ever? Lol

Anyway, I wish there was more stuff to do after the main missions.

You can't shoot shotgun, or AK-47 , M4 out of the car!, You can't go into subway train and shoot out of the train.! you can't shoot while your inside the taxi. :(

There's a reason why you can't shoot the shotgun, AK-47 and the M4 out of the car, all three require both hands to shoot with. It's impossible - I think - to use the steering wheel when both hands are being used for a very large weapon. I would understand that if you were a passenger. You can shoot out of a helicopter if you are a passenger but not a helitours' maverick.

well if you

kill playboy X

you get his apartment as a safe house and dwayne becomes your friend

You can shoot while inside the taxi, I've done it.

ya you can, but the taxi driver will say your nuts and stop the car and get out. Not really fun.

There's one thing I really never liked, and has constantly happened to me until I finished that persons mission off. Whenever I called for Roman's Car Service, or the Taxi, I generally skip the waiting part since Roman's cab driver usually has nothing to say other than call Niko a "Craphead" or the Taxi driver hasn't much to say. So when I reach my destination, the cab/taxi always hits the lamppost and usually breaks, and just as I get out of the car, I get hit by it, and when I'm low on health, I die. :\

Although at first, I found it really amusing, I just hate the fact that it keeps happening to me. It's like I got bad luck when I play GTA IV!

I have torn feelings. I love the slightly darker and mature storyline and it's good, like Martin Scorsese crime drama good. But i also miss the comedy from SA and VC (especially when you take Phil Cassidy to the hospital after he blows his arm off in VC). I just hope that they don't stick to either.

The camera seems very fine to me. It's even better than the Vice City cam, to be honest it was horrible.

Its really anoying that its often impossible to get a taxi. I figured id call for one (i belive its 411 in usa) but i cant actually make the phone dial up. I cant dial 911 either.

In the beginning of the game like the 5th mission it tells you how to get a cab. Press the L1 Button (PS3) LT(360) or look it up for the PC on google.

It also really lacks the good old gta feeling like in Vice City and even San Andreas. It lacks alot of the humor too. But the game is great. Good missions not impossible nor too easy.

Thats not Niko speaking. I'm sure you are thinking Niko can wear a bra too :P Thats Michelle that says that line. Not Niko.

Oh yeah.. most cars including bikes are sliding waay too much. its like there is a constant rain in Liberty City.. a bit more grip would be nice on the tires..

If you play The Lost and Damned you will be more satisfied. Sorry if I spelled it wrong.
