After months (even years) of media speculation on the next big breakthrough from Apple, they have just officially announced the long-awaited iPhone. Even though Cisco had trademarked that name a while ago, Apple are using it. The iPhone is also a widescreen iPod and networking device. The best technology in this is the 3.5-inch wide Multi-Touch screen - that can accept input from multiple fingers (useful when typing) and can understand gestures. Incorporating a 2 megapixel cam, 8 GB of storage, Bluetooth with EDR, WiFi, and quadband GSM radio with EDGE, powered by OSX, also running iTunes, into a 11.5mm-thick case. Apple quotes 5 hours of battery life for talk or video, with a full 16 hours in music mode. An iPod costs $199, a smartphone $299, and he's combining them so its a 4GB for $499 with a two-year contract from Cingular, and 8GB for $599 . Releasing in the US in June, Europe in Q4, and Asia in 2008. Read more on Shock Gadgets

Ingame advertising doesn't just mean radio station commercials, it means product placement (Sprunk=Coke) and billboards and even adverts popping up. I don't mind real adverts in moderation where the fake adverts currently are. In fact, I even installed a mod that turned the Sprunk machines and billboards into their Coca-Cola counterparts. However I would have a problem if there were such things as popup adverts, and logos on loading screens etc. If they want to sprinkle our game with adverts, they can put them in where it is appropriate.

I suggested it years ago, but I don't think now would be a good time to do it. Wait a few months - E4AE may be a good time.

Much prefer it without the old woman on the right.

I saw this a few days ago. My main issue with this is that people could believe it was made/owned by TGTAP, which is not true. It makes us look like we're running wordpress and think blue-on-yellow text is legible. Nothing wrong with linking to TGTAP, but going all-out and advertising us with banners, a title and a URL that make it look like you ARE TGTAP isn't really appropriate.

I used cheats most of the way through Vice City, and actually managed to do most of San Andreas without cheats (up until the mission where you had to shoot down the chopper). I will be using cheats with GTA4, simply cos dying and going back to hospital isn't particularly fun after you've done it a hundred times.

You Are 60% Evil You are evil, but you haven't yet mastered the dark side. Fear not though - you are on your way to world domination.

The pips are the little silver images below your name/avatar. They directly represent your rank on the forums which is based on how many posts you have. Staff (like me) have their pips replaced with their group icon such as "moderator" or "admin" etc.

Haha - that's as good an excuse as any.

I'm quite surprised how many people seem to think it's inappropriate for a 14 year old boy to be curious about sex. Its probably the most natural thing in the world. It's not all it's cracked up to be, but its damn good at destressing. Its not so much the actual physical act but the experience that's really great. Falling asleep in someone else arms etc etc. Why don't you start, Chris?

I see you've been drinking water all night then... I'm working on it. Merry Easter.

Happy New Year from The GTA Place - have a great 2007 I appreciate some places have been in 2007 for hours, and some are hours away, but we'll celebrate anyway

This is just about the best writing (in both senses) on these forums this year. Interpret that how you will, but I'm not gonna go running round going "vote for me" - not intentionally anyway. This is going to be quite close... Cubanwhip is leading the way at the moment with me 2nd and poor neglected Chris trailing behind. Cubanwhip, I think you should post your works round here somewhere, I haven't read any I'm afraid. If anybody wants to see some of my essays posts, try How to install a car mod, SA Modding Guide. Nothing like a shameless bit of self promotion to see out 2006

These awards are for the whole of 2006, not just this week. "Best new member" could be somebody who joined in January. The most annoying member might have been annoying all year right up until this week, but they could still be nominated and win. Don't forget that some people may pretend to be nice/helpful just for a few days so that they win awards. I hope none of our members would be that shallow but it is a possibility.

Yeah I know a lot of people that have tried Firefox for like 2 minutes and decided they didn't like it. I've had to force many of my friends and acquaintances to use it for a few days before they start to like it. Its faster, more secure, lightweight (doesnt have everything built in) but is immensely expandable (can add everything to it if you want). Why go for anything else?

Hehe well spotted Yeah I don't mean to pick on TM, but he's just an example of someone who only joined a few months ago who has a ridiculous amount of posts. No attack intended, just an example of an ongoing problem that we're trying to do something about.
