Geez you kept that one quiet Sky. It's all business between us lol. Have a good one.

Exactly. It is worth it to YOU, in YOUR OPINION, because it does exactly what you want it to for the price. If it costed $200 more you wouldn't buy it, because that would be a waste of money. In other people's opinion, such as mine and that of Chris82, it isn't worth it because it doesn't do as much as I would want a device for that price to do. See the difference? I would not buy the Touch because it is a waste of money to me. That doesn't mean you are wrong, it can still be very good for you and I'm sure thousands of other people, but not for me. That is the discussion we should have. It would mean you were spoiled if you thought it was still worth it even if it had a massive price tag. It isn't $1000 good. Also notice that different people want different things. I have a 5.5g 30gb video iPod, and it does exactly what I want. Maybe if it had FM radio and a slightly bigger screen I would pay a little bit more for it. Maybe if it was 160gb instead of 30gb I would pay more for it, but I don't need 160gb. I don't need Cover Flow and multi-touch and all the things the Touch offers, so there is no point in me buying it. You would be spoiled if you bought it when you already had one that was good enough for you. Spaz's sarcastic remark about the value of a Touch is not insulting you... it is a sarcastic remark about the value of a Touch. The first personal insult that was said was "Oh fuck, there goes chris82, ruining another topic for no fucking reason. Do you get a boner after doing this?", which you said. You may have noticed that this is not in the Warzone, so you are NOT permitted to swear or flame or insult anybody, which you did. Fancy a warning?

Quite a lot, actually. That says that that person doesn't think the Touch is worth the price Apple are charging. It may be that that person underestimates the features, or they have such a tight budget they would want a laptop for that price, or it might mean they know of other things which are much better value (such as the Classic). Is that not a point of discussion? It isn't as if everyone is getting one for free or next-to-nothing, this is hundreds of dollars of (often) hard-earned cash that is going to be frittered away on one little plastic/metal box that plays music. Maybe you're so rich you don't have to think about anything you buy and you can just have what you want whenever you want, but to the rest of us money matters. If the Touch is too expensive for what it offers, then it is not good value and we will not buy it. Is that not worth discussing? Can you prove to me that it IS worth buying even though I don't have that much money to waste? Do you concede that it is only worth buying if I really do have that much spare cash? Right... so because it is good (which nobody is denying) then that automatically makes it good value? You're missing out the money element altogether, which really makes you sound spoilt. The argument started because you don't like them discussing the value of the product, which is a vitally important indicator in whether people buy it or not. The Touch is not good enough for me to spend hundreds of dollars on. It would be a waste of my money because I do not believe I am getting enough for the money I spend. Just like buying a 160gb Classic instead of an 80gb would be a waste of money because there's no way I'd ever need that much space on it. There's nothing wrong about discussing that. Saying "I don't like it because its shit" would be wrong, because it isn't shit, and no justification is given. Some people don't like them as much as you. Get over it. Although they do argue a lot, it isn't Chris82 and Spaz that started this argument - that was you for getting overprotective of the new iPods. You can't even face the fact that some people don't want it. A discussion about the iPods is "Do you like them or not" - that includes the "or not" so long as people say why. Saying it is a waste of money is a good enough reason not to want it.
-
Actually this is a discussion topic about the new iPods. Discussing good and bad points of each, including whether you like them or not and why, is a perfect use of a topic like this. The entire point of a discussion forum is to discuss. In discussions it is okay to disagree, and it is okay to have a totally different viewpoint. You don't have to go round trying to convert everybody to your point of view, or flame them because theirs is different. Misho, it is very obvious what your POV is, because you stated it very well (with justification) in your first post. Chris82 sarcastically disagreed, because his POV is different - he wants to get the most usefulness for the money he pays, rather than the newest/best looking or whatever. Misho then countered his argument. Huckleberry stepped in with his POV that it is a bit of a waste of money, agreeing with Chris82, and Misho countered that. Jace, Bossman and Spaz added their opinions. This is all great so far. Chris82 stated more of his pov and countered Misho's arguments, then Misho tried to counter all that, but got a bit antsy about it. Notice that Misho has countered everybody that disagreed with him? I mean yeah, discussing it is fine, but you really have to learn to just accept people's viewpoints. If there are factual inaccuracies, point them out. If someone really doesn't like something, you don't have to persuade them that you are right and they are wrong. People don't like that. Let it go and discuss. "His opinion on the iPod Touch was negative. He seriously could have just left that part out and everything would have been good" - Um no... because that would defeat the point of discussing this. That doesn't mean people should be negative all the time, but his balanced and acceptable viewpoint was that it isn't good value, which is entirely fair. "You've stated before your not an Apple fan. I don't care anymore" - Does he really HAVE to be an Apple fan for you to get on with him? That's pretty restrictive. I posted about this on ShockGadgets a few days ago, so had plenty of time to think about it. I don't especially like any of the new range. Sure, they're bigger/better, but that isn't all there is to it. I am usually a practical man, but I am very happy with my 30gb 5.5g video iPod. For now anyway. We've seen the "fatty" nano a few times over the past month, in various spy shots - and were even instructed by Apple to take down the images of it. Never really liked it, certainly not that proportion. And the phone-less iPhone is maybe a bit pointless, and REALLY seems like a waste of money to me. Not sure if Apple have quite hit the nail on the head this time, as they have done fully up until now. Maybe they're trying too hard?

Right at the top of the page - in fact every page in this section of the forum - what does it say? Go to the section about the relevant game, then ask your question there - but be more specific. And remember that asking for illegal copies of the game is NOT allowed here.

Happy Birthday - You'll get your present later....

It might have been from a scratched CD or something and it fails to copy, however gta3.img is NOT a file on the install disk - it is inside a cabinet file which is extracted as gta3.img - so he IS trying to copy the game, probably from a friend's PC, and is stuck because gta3.img is so big. Asking for illegal copies of GTA games, or parts thereof, is strictly against the rules of this site. Don't do it.

Trust me when I say no moderator takes the decision to ban a member lightly. Any ban that isnt obvious (like spammers) is always discussed with other staff before and after, to make sure the right decision is made. Any suspicous bans noticed are always followed up with. It has been determined that 7's ban was appropriate. Notice what I said about complaining in private. Topic closed.

Chavs are the British underclass of youths, who typically wear burberry. Chavs are generally considered to have no respect for society, and to be ignorant or unintelligent. All chavs have at least eight kids by the time they're 14 (with at least 2 of them black), and have an extraordinary ability to write off any car within six seconds of stealing it. "Council House And Violent" is a backronym - ie somebody made it up to explain what Chav stands for, but that isn't where it came from. The accepted etymology for "chav" is that it derives from the Romani word "chavi", meaning a child. There are a lot of pretend chavs who wear the clothes and adopt the townie accent, but they don't have all the social problems (teenage pregnancy, compulsory unemployment etc), so they don't qualify as real chavs.

Thanks Dazza. A lot of people would have dug themselves into a deep hole in that situation. We don't have to make warn logs or bans public, and the staff don't intend to sit around discussing every decision they make for days/weeks/months afterwards. What you overhear, read and are told (particularly by people involved) will be a collection of parts of the truth along with some exaggeration, suspicion and speculation. You know that you don't know the whole story, so really you shouldn't be questioning the staff's judgement without knowing it. If you're sure the staff have overlooked a rule or made a mistake or whatever, PM an admin to let them know - no need to make it public, and no need to make a fuss. Rest assured that he was banned for a real reason, and that has been confirmed by our administrators. Occasionally the less-experienced moderators may jump the gun and act too harshly, but as all their activity is monitored by the administrators these instances are dealt with quickly. Sky is one of our most experienced staff, and we're confident he made the right call. What you tell 7 is up to you, tell him everyone thought he was a good member if you want. However if you do speak to him, just make it clear that a ban means he can't come back, even if some members think it was undeserved. Trust us to do our job properly, and you can just sit back and enjoy this forum.

There is no such thing as freedom of speech on these forums. Here, the staff have total power - nobody has a "right" to be a member on TGTAP. As Chesnut says, this is not a democracy. Remember that lots of people work here for free so that you can all enjoy these forums, and if you throw our generosity back in our face, you don't deserve the privilege of being a member here and you will be banned. On that note, notice that the staff are absolutely in a position to ban members. There is no appeal process or higher jurisdiction on these matters. If somebody is banned by the staff, and the administrators agree, then they remain banned. No poll or petition is going to change that decision, and anybody who repeatedly pesters administrators to reverse a ban, suspension or other warning may find themselves in trouble. That isn't a nasty thing, it is just what we have to do to keep the forum free of troublemakers, and improve the experience of the forum for our members and staff. If you have a serious legitimate complaint, write a formal email to the administrators and they will reply. Don't try and "gang up" on the staff or pressure them into allowing somebody back. Remember that most people don't get any warnings, and most of the people who have been warned just have one or two for slight problems such as bumping. Anybody who does enough to get banned deserves to be banned. "Please if anyone could tell me why he shouldn't come back, please do" - because he's banned...? "I really think he shouldn't of been banned just for stating his thoughts." - You say that like that is the only reason he got banned - like he was a perfect member until then. He had been warned before and recently suspended for a serious incident; and he was on his last chance. Then he ruined it. "He was being 'rude' due to personal problems" - So it is okay to abuse your membership and be rude to the people who run this place for your benefit, so long as you have a good enough excuse? Wrong. @ Dazza - Donkey Porker is right. He was on his last chance, which he definitely knew, and he ruined it by arguing with staff. If that not fair? If you're on a last chance, it is okay to ruin it because you can just ask for another chance, and another, and another? You have just said you know there was going to be an argument about this, so you're deliberately arguing with staff? Just give up and don't get yourself into trouble, which you are dangerously close to. Poll Removed.

Yep. Read the description of the FFAG subforum: And DON'T make topic titles all in captials, it looks crap and makes it seem like you're shouting.
-
What is the point of the money / store?
Gerard replied to DemonDelight's topic in Suggestions / Help / Bug Reporting
1) You don't need to make titles in capitals, we can see them well enough thanks. 2) Read the forums, because this question has been asked and answered many times before. -
Must've been missed off when we moved servers. Thanks for letting us know, and we'll sort it asap.

Firstly, your signature is waaaay too big. Remove it or I will. Secondly, this is NOT the private forum. This is a discussion topic about a problem with accessing that forum. To talk about the SFM to members of the SFM, go to that subforum.

What says you need to locate GTASA.exe? Be a bit more specific. If you installed GTA San Andreas from a disk, it will be in the following folder: c:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\ If you have downloaded GTASA from the Internet, that is totally illegal and we cannot help you with that.

Since the delay of GTA IV, various gaming magazines have trickled out some fairly specific new information about GTA IV. Perhaps most notably, confirmation that the game will be set in October 2007, the initial planned release date. Available are the magazine scans and summaries.

Love the aviators

It's acceptable in British military, but you wouldn't go round shouting it out. And of course no hanky panky in barracks is tolerated.
-
It's just a bit pointless saying that - and saying its "the best on" is a little retarded. Does that mean you've decided in your infinite wisdom that that is the best, or that you've chosen that one? It isnt a choice at all - I'd love to be straight (as in.. normal) but there's absolutely no chance of it. I'm not being nasty, I'm saying I have to deal with loads of straight people (loads in this topic!) that seem to assume that we've chosen to be gay because its better or something. They also assume we don't realise that straight=normal, and that gets annoying.
-
We cool (everybody else - this is an example of a discussion not an argument.. pointing out differences in opinion and compromising with the help of external sources and fact) We use "catching gay" as a joke.. didn't believe that anybody actually still thought that was possible. Exactly like Chris has an obsession with AIDS and Cancer (if anybody he knows is ill.. he looks at them really seriously and goes "must be AIDS") Another thing that pisses me off: Song that have "Feat" in them, because its usually some crappy R&B with some weird black pretend-gangsta rapper from Phili the 'hood.

I didnt say you said you knew everything, i said that what you said sounded like you meant that you thought you knew everything... My point was that Homophobia is not a phobia in the normal sense, its meaning is broader than that, extending to prejudice. Like Racism isn't blatant segregation now, its everything to do with race.
-
Don't say "actually" as if you know everything. Everybody knows a "phobia" is an irrational fear, but homophobia has a different meaning. To quote Wikipedia: "Homophobia is the fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals. It can also mean hatred, hostility, disapproval of, or prejudice towards homosexual people, sexual behavior, or cultures, and is generally used to insinuate bigotry" So that covers "oh no I'll catch gay" (which nobody with half a brain thinks) as well as using the word "gay" in a generic derogatory sense, as well as not liking people because they're gay, as well as actively disapproving of active homosexuality.
