What year should it be based in?

Recommended Posts

Actually, the late 90's would be kind of cool. Like 1999 for instance, I wouldn't want it to be based on 2006. It'd ruin the whole entire game.

^How would it ruin the game?

Anyway, I think a present day (2006/7) game would be quite good aswell, It was present day with GTAIII and so it's quite likely with the jump to next-gen.

If Grand Theft Auto IV was to take place in 2007, then Marty's old dog food factory in Liberty City will definitely belong to Carl Johnson, who might either keep it as a dog food factory or use it something else (as long as its kept industrial, as per the Liberty City zoning laws). One of the final mission would be to kill CJ off because he is supposed to die before the year 2013 (that's why you don't see him in Grand Theft Auto 2).

hey why not the present time or maybe early 2002 or 2005

why 70's or 80's or 90's we already had that in gta3 and gtasa

It all depends on where the game is based. If London then it should definetly be 60's(Just think Great Train Robbery, Italian Job, Krays etc). Current time could be ok but not if its based in another American city. Not much would of changed since LC but if it was based in Europe or somewhere else then it wouldn't matter that much.

I dont really see how they could add that much with using the current time period again. Its just not about throwing some generic guy into a city and letting you run wild. They use a lot of films/music/tv of the time and other references to put the games together.

I think they should make one of present day canada. Peferably Ontario(thats where i live). But during the winter. I'm sure rockstar could think of a pretty cool storyline. I think I speak for alot of People when I say I would like to see a snowmachine. or they could possibly have Season changes..............

I'd like it to be based after GTA2 (2013)

But if it were 2007 we wont be able to play as Cluade

But if it were the future, not much of the futuristic shit, that would ruin the game.

Theres a big problem with setting it in the future....

...what music are you gonna put in it? <_<

I reckon it should be set against the backdrop of the Y2k celebrations. ^_^

i think it would be awsome if the game played in the future so they could add something like:

aliens, flying cars, plasma guns, light sabers.

you have forgoten a small thing SOUNDTRACK!!!!What soundtrack will have?Think before saying something, you cant put music that didn`t appeared yet.

Should be in 2007 ,my opinion

Present. There are no era's left and I can guarantee that they aren't going to make a 60's game. Back to GTA 3, back to the future.
